Where in SC are you, and how open are you to doing sitework and road construction work (dumps, water trucks, etc.)? I might be able to put you in touch with some people who'll take you on, but I can't promise you anything.
A very minor rear ender of another truck in dense fog. Personally the only reason I feel they got rid of me is because fuel prices skyrocketed, and they just wanted anything they could use to cut out drivers.

Ultimately it was my fault, I shouldn't of been going as fast as I was, next time I know better, assuming I can find work for a next time.

I am in Sumter, about as central in the state as you can get. I'm open to pretty much anything.

There is no such thing as a " very minor rear ender " in a CMV..... especially one that was preventable.......
Yes I agree, but by minor I ment damages. Most companies classify 'major' as any accident with damages valuing over $5000 dollars.

Jeff really does need to pull up the threads that have already hashed and re-hashed your "minor rear-ender".

Matcat...You are simply "lucky" that the vehicle you rear-ended at 50 miles per hour...or even 40 miles per hour if you had been able to bleed of that much speed before contact, was another tractor-trailer. If you had hit a car, suv or pick-up, it would have been a major.

The reason you are not getting any offers is not the accident itself. It is the fact that the accident report indicates a lack of common sense.

All these insurance companies look are the conditions involved in the accident. Yours were.

1: Fog

2: Speed to fast for conditions.

3: A strike from behind accident at highway speed.

4: A very preventable accident.

They don't need anymore reason's than those, to tell an Insured Carrier not to hire you.

How do you do your penance and rehabilitate yourself?

That is going to be a tough row to hoe, in todays economic climate. If the economy was roaring along like it was in 1997.....you wouldn't be having this problem. With the outlook for the economy being what it is...with fuel going through the roof, and with trucking company's closing shop as fast as fuel rises...you need to start considering doing something more along the lines of construction work. There are plenty of plants around the area you live in, where you can get work...and having the CDL might actually benefit you ..... If they look past your accident.

Default S.C. driving jobs

Might try "Cranston", they have a terminal in Sumter, don't know their #.
There's a local outfit in Sumter called "Hodge Trucking", this guy owns half of the warehouses around town and is a wheeler dealer. I worked there when I needed to be home for jury duty for a couple of weeks.

I called, but they only have one driving job open currently, and that's for a lowboy. They require at least two (three preferred) years of driving experience for that job.
