1. What would happen if the Federal Government was to get gid of the fuel surcharge supplement given to large Companies like Swift, JB Hunt Schneider, etc... Let me explaine to some of you younger guys what it is... I may get it wrong too but I am going to try to hit the nail on the head.... O/O, independents, local companies recieve the fuel surcharge with the mileage calculation and get paid by the shipper, but large and very large companies recieve a portion from the FEDS... and a very small portion from the shippers.
2. Since so many of these super mega companies have tried to cut the rates to an all time botton low and by the FEDS getting rid of the fuel surcharge Do you really think that they are going to be able to operate to their full effency. Well if this is true and what we have seen so far then maybe the second portion will be true too... Just be watchful for the first week of April

Our fsc is paid on the % of the linehaul on ltl, and 48cpm (currently) on truckloads.
I'm not sure if the govt is chipping in for fuel, but I know some of the big carriers ae subsidized one way or another. I'm glad it was explained for us younger drivers, I'd hate the older drivers to get wind of this

SD was not yanking anyone's chains. I know what the announcement WAS going to be, but apparently the situation at this company changed and is still changing from what I am still hearing. Put it this way...there are a lot of things still up in the air with Swift, but at the very least they will be substancially reducing their fleet size.

Or simply the announcement has yet to be made.
