Apologies if I came off as offensive or against Swift, I am at this time uncertain what to think. I know only that I had to reschedule due to a transportation mistake, then when I finally got to Memphis I was told to return home by the shuttle driver. My recruiter mentioned she tried to call me the previous day but I was "already gone". I had my cell phone on all day, and missed no calls. There were no voice messages either. I didn't actually leave Carbondale aboard a Greyhound bus till 20:05 CST that Monday. Spent the morning in Memphis, was told to return home, then left Memphis at or around 16:40 EST only to get stuck in Nashville till 0530 EST the next day. Got back to Carbondale around 10:10 CST.

What was most frustrating about most of this was the lack of answers. So, I do apologize most sincerely if I came off offensive or as if I was trashing Swift.

Thanks again Greg3564, you're input is greatly appreciated and I thank you for your time.

H.

EDIT: And, if it doesn't already show.. I'm only 26, and know very little of the trucking industry. So I thank you for your patience.
You don't need to apologize. I don't work for Swift. Just get the whole picture and get all the facts before leaping into anything. There are good training companies and bad ones. Something I did when I got started is I wrote down all the info I could find and compare companies to find a good fit. But use caution in what you read or hear. Take everything with a grain of salt. Go to as many of the trucking sites and read as much as you can. Some sites are anti-Swift, some aren't. Some are anti-Schnieder, some aren't. Just do a lot of homework and get facts. Good luck.

There are a lot of better training companies out there. How about Roehl or Watkins-Shepherd?

I do not work for anyone yet.. I tried the local thing for a year i am going back otr.. I trained with cr england now LISTEN up. There training is ok but the company sucks.. Schiender is the best i have seen i would try there.. They really train you and there mentor program is one of the best.. All the training companies try to take advantage of you in one fashion or another.

Its just part of the dues. Stick it out for at least a year no matter were you go. Do not job hop as hard as it sounds. they all can be jerks they can be good as well. We are all frieght re-location experts and great customer service agents. There is no room for anything else. If someone talks a LEASE RUN dont walk until you know more.. My best bud is a lease person it is not working. I got rooked into a cr england lease boy what a bunch of crooks they are.

Take your time and go slow learn all you can. I personlay do not endorse anyone.. But i hear really good things about Schiender over the long run, The Dog has Spoken

Nope. That is the fact. If you get your CDL by training on automatic equipment, you get a endorsement on your licence that restrict the to automatics only. Look into it.

Wrong answer! If you test on autos then it can be restricted. Even then it's not the case in all states.

yup called pam myself awhile back. I already had a class A, but had quit driving since like 2004. I knew I would have to take a refresher or somthing so I called PAM. They told me "sure all you need to is surrendered your licence, and come to our school..." That was enough for me. BTW...Wasn't drunk, just drinking!

In texas there is a restriction for automatic transmission only.

If you test in an automatic transmission they are supposed to issue a cdl that restricted to auto trannies only. However, when I talked to the DPS they don't usually bother with it.
