I have a hard time understanding why someone would want to do that. I mean sure all that time off is great, but you are only working 1/2 the year. In other words if a trucker working 14 and 2 or whatever made 50K a year.....you would be making around 1/2 that. By all means, Im not trying to talk someone out of it, hell...I recruit for a company that does it.
Maybe Im missing something here, but doesnt that plan equate to a part time job with part time pay?
Wouldnt something like Celedon be more attractive with their 1 week off PAID every 30,000 miles? I mean at least you are being paid 1000 bucks for the time off.

Folks have different financial goals. Not everyone wants/needs 50k a year. Time off is worth something, too. I made just over 30k when I ran Roehl's 7/7 and was able to play a lot of poker during my hometime...even traveled to a few tournaments. I only netted about $3600 from the poker, but damn, what a fun year. Another guy I worked with ran a bed and breakfast with his wife and had too much to take care of with the business to do the two weeks out, 3 days home thing.

People always get so confused though when you tell them you work half the year. It's like "hey, I have to work full time, you should, too!" Ha. To each his own.
