Explain how popping a fully-loaded (and very heavy) handcart up and down ramps and stairs all the livelong day...some covered with snow/ice...is not hard work? Then shoe-horning that 48' trailer next to a dumpster at Long John Silvers and convienice stores owned by wacky Iraqis? Why bust you a$$ in such manner when you can make better money bumping docks?

Now for some optimism Colts Fan. I know 2 guys who lasted over 20 years
in this business without major injuries. Like others have said it takes practice
moving the cylinders around, eventually it'll be a very smooth process doing
minimal wear and tear. Unlike smaller companies Airgas will not have you
dragging tanks up a flight of stairs with a handcart. That was my undoing early on causing major back problems which no longer occur since I don't do
those deliveries anymore.
See your chiropractor friend on a regular basis and I also recommend a massage therapist every few months at least. They are the only reason I've
lasted 10 yrs.

Good luck! We'll be rooting for ya'!

I'm interested in hearing how it pans out. Maybe you could keep the thread updated so that others can learn about Airgas when researching companies?

And BOL tomorrow versus the Chargers. You guys are sure gonna need it against the Patriots!!

Actually CFM, I make more a year then some LTL carriers(including the UNION ones) pay thier drivers. Remember, to each thier own. I like what I do and it keeps me home and away from OTR, you like LTL, more power to you. And no, it is not hard work for those that don't mind doing physical work. Some of us can't just sit on our a$$ all day and bump docks. To boring and if I did that, I would get fat and lazy. And just so you know, my pay checks come from UPS. They have more then just "Brown" and freight  (and I get a pension)

Chargers were the better team. It spared an embarassment next week.

Wow, I'd REALLY like to know WHAT "food-service" company UPS "owns"...??? Sure news to me after over 3 decades at that company...Lets see..UPS "Logistics" maybe..UPS doesn't have any non union divisions anymore now that UPS Freight is coming into the fold. Hoffa and the IBT would sure be surprised. I'm thinking Maclane or MBM..jealousy has reared it's ugly head.....
