i am looking for info from current john christner drivers like how often you can get home and average miles .....thx

What they said is right.
Hometime, I heard that on the average, is about once a month or so.
Being out that long, I would imagine their drivers rack up a few miles.

sorry enob. are you sure jct is a fleece company? do you drive for them? how long? jct offers home time like any other company offers o/o drivers. anytime you can afford it. i usually get home 1-2 times a week. but i only stop for dinner, laundry or a quick hug. unless i decide to do a 34 hr restart. the miles are long tho because we usually run fresh meat ot produce. strawberry loads are great if you can handle 700-900 mile days. average driver runs 3500 miles per week. some excede 4000. the killer part is doing the required maint. you might run 3700 miles but then find out it is time for the 20,000 mi. pm. i find that the harder i run the more i spend for maint. so far i been running for them only 5 months so i probably don't have you exp yet, but, i have been making a bit more than i was as a company driver for other companies. i have a ton more responsibilities tho. at time the trade off don't seem worth it then at other times, well, i have a good lookin and good running truck that WILL be mine in a few years. and if i don't make it they have a fair termination policy. there are a lot more headaches owning or leasing than as a co. driver and i recomend doing a lot of research before deciding to go this route. more drivers do not make it than do.

Why would you run your own business for "a bit more" than a company driver makes with no paid vacation, no 401k matching, no health insurance, workman's comp, social security matching, etc?!?!?!? So you can own a big Petercar with lots of miles on the odometer?

firstly you can't run 900 mi. legally, yeah i know :sad: the benifits i have are same as any small businessman. as far as 401k , not every employer has it. i do have ira that i have been paying into for past 20 years since i was a building contractor. i am not pushing lease purchase plans on anyone. but why blast me for giving it a try? sure i admit that most folks lose their assets doing it. so i might be a fool, but, i am giving one my best shot. if i make it to final payment, then yes i will own a high mile truck 4 years old. i only plan on running otr 1 years after that anyway, then staying local and regional running farm and livestock loads seasonally. i will have a truck that i know it problems. lease plans fail most of the times, but, some do make it. all i can do is give it my best. i don't advise this to anyone, but so far it is working for me.
