You can go to www.upsjobs.com and do an online application.

Howard,

The process works like this.

1. fill out an app online
2. if they are interested they will call for interview.
3. if hired, then everything else follows. Roadtest etc. they do all their paperwork online. I-9, w-4 etc.

Timing is everything. Unfortunately this is a tough month. Things dont pick up until january. 5 of us are on call mostly as of last week due to freight slowing down. What I find weird about it though, is that I was talking to a fedex freight driver and they are hammered. You might want to check them out.

I am not sure if its our area or just across the board for all LTL. Personally I think its our area but I am still getting my feet wet with this LTL stuff. I have only been doing it since September. What kills me is I was making crazy money back in Sept, Oct. Then all of a sudden its like they floor fell out. Well we will see.

Good luck, If you dont here from them right away, fill out an app once a month. Thats what I did. My TM told me they look at the most recent apps and thats how I got called.

You need to be 23 with 1 1/2 yrs experience to drive linehaul or teams. Then they require 1 yr experience if you do local P&D. I dont know how much they pay elsewhere, but down here in southern california they pay 21.50 an hr and then 45cpm. or more for linhaul. I worked there for couple of months as a yard hostler which payed 18 an hr.

Also try UPS Supply Chain Solutions(DCC,Worldwide Dedicated Services). Just click on Supply Chain Solutions under feature jobs and then pick the state that you live in. I work for DCC, they are division of UPS and provied Private Fleet transportation. They require two years experience though BUT if there is an opening in your area, go in person to them and apply. We have hired drivers right out of driving school.

It's just you  . I don't have to wear a brown uniform. Black cargo pants and a blue polo shirt and work boots(steel toe) ,but for what they pay me, I will wear a brown uniform if asked  .
