have 8 yrs exp pulling a box. is it a good idea to get into hauling fuel if u never pulled a tanker before? any advice?

 

Its always a good idea to go tank. No lumpers, no warehouses, no refers, no shippers load and count. Pulling a fuel tank is easy. There are usually 4 compartments, so there is virtually no surge. Go to your delivery, hook up the hoses, unload in the correct tank (most important) then go to load again. Fuel prices may be high, but people will still drive everywhere and that means stations will have to be stocked.

That's funny you wrote that. We just brought on an ex-gas hauler. He just told me yesterday he was canned from that job for putting the wrong fuel into the wrong tank at one of his stops.

 

It's happened before....It will happen again(ale` Charlton Heston and his deep voice).


I bet if you quiz said driver...he had more than one such incident...and tried to cover the last one up. Got caught by Veder-Root.

LOl..yea yea..that's what it is...the octane police.

No...Veder-Root is the inventory management system that the EPA has forced onto gas stations. It not only keeps track of the quantity of fuel in storage, but also shows how much fuel is unloaded at each delivery, and has leak detection...in case a drive punches a hole in the tank bottom with his gauge stick.

Before veder came along..."containing" a mix was easy.
