goldeneagle did u get to tell them were u wanted to run? how many miles did they say u would average?

 

Is there any more info on this, or is their minimum still 4 months?

 

Your preferences for running areas are handled during orientation.

If a driver at Knight is not averaging 2500 miles per week, or the equivelent in pay, then there is something wrong somewhere.

As I, and a few others on here, have said several times the keys to making a go of it at Knight are:

Follow company policy

and

Communicate, Communicate, Communicate.

 

I just left Knight out of Columbus,Ohio terminal and I never seen 2500 miles in the 2 months that I was there. All I ever did was sit and wait to be dispatched. Also if you go with the per deim you will make 2 cents less per mile .

 

coole99 they had told me that when i get there i can pic the area i would like to run in but before that i had stated i would like a north east and was told that would not be any problem .from the first time i have contacted them they have been very helpfull and respectfull on the phone like some other companies out there i went as far as going to the
truck stops in my area and talking with other drivers for them as well as other companies and have not heard anything bad about them

 

Then either you or the dispatcher was doing something wrong. Knight has a company policy of 10,500 miles a month MINIMUM. I have seen guys let go for not running the required miles! The per deium is a joke in my opinion. But that does not mean it isn't good. I just didn't like it.

 

Companies have a lot of things on paper that don't translate to REALITY ...miles and pay are one of these things . :wink:

 

This is true! BUT, I know first hand that knight is very big on this mileage thing. One week I was sick while I was out and I did not run that well. They were all over me trying to figure out why I was not running like I would normally and keep putting this mileage thing in my face.

 

well what would a typical 7 days at Knight look like trip wise as far as milage ,and Delivery Eta on those runs ?

 

I am sorry to disagree with Tanner, but I started with Knight in March. and all has gone down hill since then. I have never turned down a load, have never been late, or any other excuse people normally use. I was out of the Florida terminal, and here are the facts from my experience. My last paycheck was $426.00, and that was with a 1100 mile load to start the week. It took me 4 weeks and 23 phone calls to get my layover pay, 1.5 weeks to get tolls paid back to me,for the amount of $62.00. So please, in the Florida region, don't think you will get miles. I can't count the number of times I have been told"if you would please just do this favor for me I have a great run for you" it usually ended in a 300-400 mile run to nowhere and I sit for a day. Listen, I like the company don't get me wrong, but there are some very serious problems at that terminal..my advice stay clear.
