Tjv 189 There is a Lowe's home improvement in Indiana. Check their loading dock to see if the trailer for their daily deliveries belongs to DDI transportation. If so You could probably hire on with them and stay pretty close to home. Their a dedicated carrier for Lowes Distribution in Minersville as well as some other good accounts. They are all no touch and probably about 65-70% drop and hook. I had seven months tractor trailer when I went with them but I was an owner operator with spotless driving record and no criminal background since you have six months they may give you a job if you have clean histories. I no longer drive for them because i went into another part of the industry but they are good people and I would certainly go there again if I were to start back hauling dry van.

just start calling around and ask what thay have dedicated... a good friend was with usx for 5 years otr teamed with his wife but the situation at home changed and she had to come off the road 'family medical reason" and he needs to stay close to home usx didn't have anything for him close to home so he went to jb hunt.
his pu is 50ml from the house he works 5 days a week is home almost everynite " had to stay in the truck 3 nights in the last month" he gets paid mileage with a $800 a week minimum plus $100 per day if he works weekends. the jobs are out there you just need to call and find them.

Just out of curiousity - why would that extra 25 miles matter so much? Is this an on-call situation where the driver needs to report within a set time of being called?

Because you take the truck home, and the company pays the fuel. When you live that many miles off the lane and you are going to and from home 3-4 times a week, those extra miles add up. At least thats how its been explained to me.
Automotive runs are run a little different. Like I mentioned before, they are mostly relays with other drivers. So when they just need 1 driver to fill a position, they usually need them really close to a certain area because that is the optimal place for the relay system to run smoothly.
