Yeah, I did see that you had worked for Knight a while back and knew that when I posted.. Thanks for clearify for others that might not have seen that in other posts..
On another note.. It seems there are plenty of people out there ready to FLAME anyone that doesn't agree with them, and use what others say no matter how old the info. Its really kinda sad that you cant just disscuss why one company may be better then another without all the 5 yr old name calling and other BS.. So far people from Knight have been able to talk decently about there company and any experance they might have with Crete without being stupid. But there have been many Crete people talk'n crap. This alone says a lot about the people working for the different companies, which kinda helps me decide what I'm gonna do. I would rather get paid a tiny bit less and look more professional then get "more cents per mile" and look and act like a 5yr old.. Thanks all! I'm going with Knight! Peace!

Hi Dave!
Just like You,I to drove for Schneider for 2 1/2 years. For me it was between Crete,Knight,Gordon and Interstate. Finnaly I chose Crete,in my 4th week with them,in my first 3 weeks run 8664 miles, including 2 days home time. Unlike many of you here looking at the top potential,I asked myself what would I make if I am having a bad week? Bad weeks are unavoidable no matter whom you drive for. I consider 2000 miles a bad week,at 0.41 cpm with Crete that is still 820$ gross...thats a good weeks worth of money with many other companies! Best of luck to you,I believe you will do great with Knight aswell!

Dave, don't judge the quality of Crete or Knight drivers by what you have seen here. My observation is that the Crete drivers are as a whole are more professional and smarter to boot than the Knight drivers. Before you show up to work please talk to Knight drivers at the terminal you will be working out of. See if getting empties is a problem in their freight lane because if it is you will loose a lot of money. I sat in LA for the the weekend last weekend , again in Northern Cal three weeks ago and a half a day a week before that. Their trailer availability and maintenance sucks. If the choice is between Crete National and Knight I would go to Crete if you can stomach fighting to get home. You will make a hell of a lot more money. I totaled my first six weeks with Knight and my average is 2263 per week. When I left Crete's national board I was told I was the top rookie producer and was up for rookie of the year (big deal ha). My point being is I know how to get miles and log to my advantage. But Crete western regional probably is no better than Knight out here as the Crete driver loading next to me says he is only getting 2200 a week for the last six weeks. Whatever you choose good luck.

Lets see. Assuming you do make the $60,000 mark at .36 cpm that's over 166,000 miles and you make it home most weekends?! Lets assume that you will really do that. At Crete, making .42 cpm, I would only have to drive 143,000 miles which is much easier to attain. Unless you are making way more than .36 cpm or you are on some sort of dedicated fleet that has a lot of stops that you get paid separately for I can't see you making that kind of money.
This is a no brainer with a small twist.. Crete .41 cent per mile practical( Shaffer pays same too...same everything except no haz-mat, a blue truck instead of Red--longer length of haul) The other facts that were missed are...the original poster stated he only had a year's experience! That sliding pay scale at Knight isn't going to reach into the .40c level (unless the length of haul is What....less than 250miles......) Plus, Shaffer(maybe Crete too) will rent you a rental car to get you to Orientation...Knight will have you on a Grayhound for 2 days/nights! Knight......sliding pay scale .34 cent if length of haul(trip) over 1000 miles/ .36 if length if haul is under 500miles short miles = dividing up the weekly pie more which invites more Murphy's law to screw you out of total miles and a lot more WORK! __________________________________________________ ___ Shaffer Truck#83996 |
