Default Covenant Transport ?

What do you know about Covenant? I'm looking at them and U.S. Xpress, but I'm looking hard at Covenant Transport S.E. Reigional Div. right now.

Have you driven for them? // Do you still? // Why?

Default Covenant

Do an archives search of 'em here, at layover.com, newbiedriver.com, truck.net, and safersys.org. You'll find gouge on 'em. Don't confuse a "Christian" company with the behavior. BOL

i would not go with covenant "thy will not take a man/woman team if you don't have the same last name. we went with U S xpress and we are very happy with them. better trucks, faster trucks, better shops, just run alot better. one beother owns one and the other brother owns the other but thy sure don't run them or treat the drivers the same.

If you look at other threads there is mostly negative stuff about Covenant. Now you can find negative comments about all companies, but I have never seen anything positive about Covenant. I am curious as to why you are leaning toward them???

They bought out a regional company I think to help gain regional freight.

I started with Covenant about 4 months ago and would advise trying another company.

So you like US XPRESS? Do you get good miles, and good home time, ect.?

The only thing I don't like about the idea of US XPRESS is the automatic transmission trucks, I would think that would be pretty hard to get used to, how fast are their trucks?

yes we do like them, it's a little slow right now so we (team)are down to around 4800-5300 per week but most of the time we run 6200-6800, we stay out about a month and we are home for 4-5 days (the day you get home and the day you come out don't count as days off).

some trucks do 65mph others do 68mph ours(volvo 780) has a bounes built into the computer if we have our mpg at 6.6mpg our's will do 71mph.

also it's not an true automatic transmission it's an AUTO-SHIFT it use a computer and air shifter on a 10sp trans but you are right it did take me about 3 weeks to stop putting my left foot to the floor every time i stopped. and it took about two weeks for me to get it to bump a dock soflty (when backing you need a soft right foot)
