Another Idiot looking at CRE

Factory jobs..... hell they are harder to get where i live than trying to be a blind optomitrist. I have looked at local jobs, jobs in my range, and so on. I cant even get a call at the moment from a temporary agency, which just blows my mind because other people with 0 qualifactions are getting jobs. Maybe its just my run of luck.
Anyhow, trucking is something that I want to pursue. Like I said earlier, I am willing to deal with being shafted, hardly making any money compared to someone else in a different company. All I know is that I am not going to CRE thinking it will be great, im going thinking that It will be hell, but Im going to be using them as much as there using me. CDL or highwater ya know. There's a local company that I am looking at that requires you have 1 year OTR, Bulk Transit. There a dirty carrier, mostly hauling.... dirt, and rock. But they have good home time, decent pay, and its local. I just want to get started. It will be a rough, really rough start. But if it gets me that nice little license, then so be it ya know. I just wonderd if there was anyother companies that could pick me up like CRE could. Because anything is better than CRE from what the expierence players say. As far as the long hours go, what if you have no home to come back to. Wouldnt you make your truck your home. Then driving for 400hrs a day isnt so bad if your at home. Depressing I know, but still true none the less. I used to work at a pizza joint, and you could not pry me from that place due to the fact that I had no other home. Sure my parents put me up, but I hated going there. I loved that job because I was comfortable there. The way I feel is that if I am comfortable at a job, It works for me. So if I am getting shafted and having to wait a couple days for a load. I will sit back at my laptop, play some solitare, watch me some TV, like being at home and being off for a couple of days. Rambling I know, but I hate to think that CRE is soooo damn bad that you do not want to even work for them if they were the last hiring place on earth. Im patient, for 1 year, at getting screwed, I know, thats where most of my crappy jobs end. So 1 year is more than enough time to get my self going before moving into greener pastures. Hell, I only need 5 months then I can go to schnieder for sure. They already gave me the green flag, just need to wait until August.

One thing you might want to look at before starting your plan is whether or not other companies will accept your C.R.E. training. Pretty easy to do - find the company you ultimately would like to drive for, and simply ask them.

"Failure to control vehicle.." Sounds like the companies are taking this as "Driving Recklessly and Carelessly without regards to life and property" I suspect that you were involved in an accident involving speeds greater than 15 MPH over the speed limit, or over the maximum speed law. (For example in AZ the speed limit on interstates is 75 MPH but .. any speeds over 85 exceed the maximum safe speed law and will get you a "Recklessly and carelessly" ticket.
So this is a special situation as opposed to simply having an accident and or tickets. It is interesting to know that CRE will still take such candidate. The bad thing about going CRE is that trucking is hard enough to survive 6 months .. you will probably not make it and have more problems being successful.

ehedgecock- Do you live here in Ohio? If so go to your local Jobs and Family Services and they offer grants, if you qualify, that will pay for your truck driving school tution. That is one option to consider. If they do give you a grant to pay for it then you can go to a truck driving school like Roadmaster in Columbus which will give you more options than just CRE. Personally, I believe you have more options than just CR England but your not looking hard enough. Best of luck.

Ok, as far as the Failure to control vehicle, it was on a normal street, only going roughly 40 miles an hour when speed is 35. Someone in oncoming went to turn to enter a parking lot on the side of the street that i was on so they crossed my path. I locked up and aimed for a grassy opening on the oppisite side of the street and as I was sliding across, the vehicle behind the one that was crossing in front of me decided to go ahead and go and our passenger sides caught each other.
CRE takes it because it is beyond 3 years which is all they look at. It hasnt been 5 or I would have been at schnieder a month ago. As far as the comment on grants, its not somehting that I am eligble. I can not receive in money for school from student loans or grants, only eligble for private investers like banks and such, but even then, I cant get that on my own due to poor credit rating from what is still left to owe on college. As far as wether or not another comany will take me with CRE training, I figured if I get at least 1 year of clean OTR expierence, then training speaks for itself, wheter it was good or bad. I know there is more options out there, but I just cant seem to find them. Everyone either says no, or yes, but here is the stipulations, which at the time I cant do. CRE is the only one that said yes and works for me at the moment. Maybe because they are so damn desperate to get people because of their awsomely high turnover, maybe not, but I'll take what I can get right now. Anyhow, no matter what the outcome with CRE, I am mind set on trucking, plain and simple. Maybe I have enough will and determination to make it in this career that CRE will be like a hemoroid that will just go away once I can afford to get some prep H. Then again, maybe I will be one that says, MAN THIS IS AWSOME, and you will still see me in the big red truck years from now. Hell who knows, I hope not because my ass will be hurting all to much.

keep in mind for all the horror stories you read, there are plenty of success stories that you wont read about. they are a big company for a reason, they didnt make it to where they are by accident
hope this helps........ may god bless you wherever your endeavors take you

And the other thing to think about is: What if you don't make it 1 year with CRE? A lot can happen (or not happen) in a year, especially with a trucking company.

marcel, I really appricate that comment because I have seen this personaly. My best job ever was managing a restaurant. I have heard more stories on this than I have CRE, and they were alot worse, but when I did it, It was great. Still be there if I could, but owners decide that my management approach wasnt what they wanted. Being my turnover was the lowest of all the stores in the fanchise, my numbers were perfect every week. Wait, i know now, everyone was having fun and getting it done, guess they dont like fun. Sure Pizza Hut isnt ran like Japanesee clockwork, but I think they wanted it to be.
This job, being so high on my charts makes me think trucking will work out no matter the carrier. I like long hours, with PH I was only clearing 455 week before taxes for 70 hours (you do the math), yet I still loved it. I do hope that my expierence with CRE isnt to bad, but I dont hold my breath. Im going ot a different facilty for training, Chicago, so maybe the training will be different than that of SLC. My concern is that they seem like more of a western US company, and I live in KY so this might work against me. But I have no ties here, so like I said a couple post ago, my truck will be my home. Do they make Frieghtliners with built in showers??? |
hope this helps........ may god bless you wherever your endeavors take you
