hey BONEHEAD, that is why you claim the per deim on your taxes whether the company gives it to you or not.. If you do not get it from the company it is a straight deduction on your taxes. Lower you income, pay less taxes, or get a bigger refund. DUH.

You just don't get it do you? kips stated that drivers are not paid for food and travel allowances while away from home. Per diem is NOT a payment it is a WRITE OFF, two different things. :roll: Why the attitude? This is a forum for friendly conversation. No one did anything to you. and once again.....lets all blame ourselves for the industry's poor treatment of the drivers. Let's see, I see recruiters chiming in on why a background check that THEY did not do beforehand gives them an excuse to dump someone at a Greyhound bus station....I see people who are more interested in a vehicle that they MAY drive (but never own) and posters who continue to justify their giving away of their labor and time. What I DON'T see is anyone concerned (with a couple of exceptions) with being PAID for ALL of their time, health benefits, and a REAL retirement system. You work hard for these companies, in some cases you give your family life up and your health. What will you do when you are too old to drive ? Do you think any of these companies care ? Your just a warm body filling a seat. If you have to live on the street when you can no longer drive what good does a shiny truck you USED to drive do you ????? The poster from the United Kingdom had an excellent point in driving conditions in Europe vs the US. What he forgot to tell you is that most of the drivers are unionized. When you screw with one driver in Europe, you screw with all of them and they shut down in a heartbeat. This is what American trucking companies fear most. That one day drivers in this country will wake up and realize the REAL power you have. Sure, we'll give you that nice shiny truck son, we just won't pay you what you are worth (after all that trucks nothing but a tax write off) nor do we care if you get old and sick. REPEAL the FLSA exemption for the trucking industry. What is the trucking industry afraid of ? They won't get their free slave labor anymore.

 

not true in the uk miby in france but not in the UK we get F****d up the ass by companys as much as u and the fact that the bigest haulier in EU is norbert dentrassangle and they do not recognise unions and plus we mostly get salary here know with the new eu rules on 60hr working working week which means that u can only work an avrage of 60hrs over 26 weeks and plus the money is about 25K to 30K a yr before tax so take 29% off and thats what u earn here in the UK when house prices are about an average off 170K and more down south which means that 70% of ure money gose on ure morgage

 

Wouldn't get out of bed for 25-30k..You need to find a new profession in the UK or move over here..

I think i would change the fact that all drivers do is argue, myself included. we are the one and only reason that drivers have bad reps. when a dirty, overweight, not showed guy or girls gets out of truck and starts complaining, people tend to get the idea. we should all take pride in ourselves and our proffesion. that is what i think but to be honest i will still be a smart a**, here and on the CB. but we all gotta have some fun, right?

 

U got to double that its about 50 to 60.000$$$$$$ ayr over there but any average house is about 340,000$$$$$$$
