A guy I went to trucking school with got on a dedicated with them and has been at it for about 2 years now, so he is doing pretty good.

I teamed with them this past spring and summer. We were OTR, treated like crap, and if we didn't kiss out dispatchers ass, we didn't get any miles.

Go to them, get some experience and go elsewhere.

Default werner

great training company for 6 months

you will be treated like dirt/an apprentice

but you will gain experience on what to do

as a trucker and learn what low pay means

do 48 states so your deadhead miles are paid the same as your load miles

have a laptop with microsoft streets and trips so you can locate your shippers and cons

as werner directions suck

have a 4 pound hammer and a vise grips

so you can free the stuck tandem pins on their trailers

beat em with the hammer

the vise grips are for holding the pin release rod out

while you slide the tandems

i did werner for 8 months and useless express for 6 months

pay was better at useless but miles sucked 2000-2200

i got my 14 months total experience

and now i work for crete 41 cents a mile and practical miles

jan is a slow freight month

but i still got 3000 miles for 2 of the 3 weeks i was just out

because cretes average run is 800-900 miles

get your first year in however you can

dont waste your money paying the 1 cent a mile for per dieum

its a ripoff

buy the legal service for 15 a month

it saved my butt

then come to a real company like crete

How is it a great training company for 6 months if they treat you like dirt ?
Why not just start with Crete ?

Default crete

i will verify when i talk to the training dept

as they want me to be a trainer

but my belief is that crete hires only experienced drivers

not straight out of school

it keeps their safty record better

especially since they had a major incident a few years ago

werner makes its money on straight out of school trainees

they get a 5k tax credit for each student they place in a truck

and they place an average of 2000 students a quarter

that tax credit covers the high insurance for the many accidents they have

when combined with the low pay of 26 cents a mile

thats how swifty and c r england float their boats too

plus c r england aggressively pushes their company drivers into being owner opts

Like stated earlier, put your time in and leave. They claim to be a family orientated company but at one time kept me out for over a month, needless to say I missed not only my daughters first birthday but Thanksgiving (both requested and approved for five weeks before both events). I actually went back thinking they were going to treat me like a real driver having gotten over a year of OTR under my belt but I was confused  My rant about that I just finished posting. Good Luck whatever you choose, just remember they have very slick recruiters and will tell you what you want to hear and hedge their bets your too broke to go elsewhere when you find out different.
