I wholeheartedly agree with the smaller companies being the way to go.

More of family atmosphere..........don't feel like a unit number, or "meat in the seat".....to each their own, I suppose...

Lately it seems to me I have seen more stupid Schneider drivers. I got up the other morning in a rest area in Maryland and was blocked in by a Schneider driver. I knocked on his truck and the driver told me he couldnt move his truck for another 3 hours since he was on a 10 hour break. It took a call to the 800 number to get him to move. What a moron.

I know several cool Schneider drivers but with the state of the industry they seem to get more than thir share of idiots.

Lower than average pay.
Less than clean equipment.
Keep you out for extended periods.
Enormous size (you WILL be just a number working there)
Good Training Program
Good Website
Drivers seem pleasant to talk to
May be one of your only options if you have hire-ability issues with other companies.

Default SNI position on immigrant labor

Go to the bottom of this page and click on the link for Chris Lofgren's name to view SNI plan for immigrant labor:

http://www.house.gov/transportation/

There are a number of trucking news sites out there that will describe everything occurring in the industry to include the Trans Texas Corridor, industry giants plans and terminal facilities on the US borders, etc.

Many of the negatives are just plans right now, however many are also currently underway.
