No I'm not a recruiter. Feeder is a tractor trailer driver. I'm a package driver right now and hope to move to feeders soon. I'm not gloating and I think you miss the point of this thread. Lots of threads are from people complaining about how bad their companies are to work for. I wanted people to take this thread and tell others why their company is good to work for. A lot of guys are here trying to find a good company to work for, so why not take the collective knowledge and tell everyone where the good companies are. Why are they good, how well do they pay, what kind of time off do you get, how are the benefits, etc.

I like UPS for the most part. Not saying their the best, but it works for me. What works for me may not work for someone else. So 9ball if you don't want to hear about good companies that's fine with me, just go somewhere else and complain. I was hoping to keep this thread positive. No whining!!!!!!

I love hearing the o/o too. How did you get into it and do it right without crashing and burning.

Yes it is a good job and it is hard to get on there. We have this 6 to 1 hiring ratio for full-time jobs. Six inside to one outside, so unless you start part-time its a roll of the dice to get that one outside hire when it comes open.

I found this site a few weeks ago, because I want to get out of package cars and move to feeders (tractor trailer drivers who run between main hubs and outlying centers). Package drivers bodies start to wear out when they are in their mid 40s. Knees, back, and shoulders start blowing out. Feeder work is all drop and hook and a lot less physical than package cars. I'm 38 and would like to make it to retirement without a wheelchair.

Didn't know much about trucking industry as a whole, so I wanted to hear what others thought about driving a truck before I signed up to go to UPS CDL school. I had no idea what a shortage of truck drivers there was, and how many bad otr companies are out there. I just wanted to start a thread to hear about other good companies. There has to be a few out there.

I absolutely LOVE working for TMC Transportation in Des Moines Iowa. Just visit my TMC-Employee site below to see why. I started the site when I was hired by TMC and now it's become a sort of journal/diary of my adventures with them. It's nice to FINALLY see a thread on here for HAPPY drivers!!! Good work!

Here it is, My New 2007 Peterbilt I just got:

I've seen some of your posts and thought you might show up here. Thanks, and love the truck. Seems like most TMC guys like the company.

I love my company, Stevens Transport....lots of people don't like them, but I think it depends on your character really. What makes you sad, mad or happy....I enjoy the miles; they keep me busy and my pocket book full. The company does care for its employees or least the ones who care for their company. I did quit once, but they wouldn't stop calling to get me back, asking what they could do to have me come back to the company. We got the problems resolved and I came back. Not to many complaints in my book...I don't really like waiting to be unloaded, but what can ya do.

2 votes for Con-way. Very cool. They seem to get high marks around here.
