One thing you gotta remember is even though we have seen a lot of negative things abot Swift, there are over 17,000 tractors. Thats a HUGE company, and when you have numbers like that .. theres just bound to be more people and more complaints. Few people will take the time to sing the praises about a company, but 10 times as many people will bitch about it.

You go, you drive, you do your job and as long as they keep you busy and dont screw up your pay, what do you have to worry about?

If you are one of the lucky ones that happens to make it there without incident, at least Swift seems to have some really nice advancement opportunities down the road.

If I had to go with a bottom-feeder (and I dont!), I'd probably pick Swift to be honest.

FT, as I've pointed out so many times before the folks on this forum know their stuff and have helped many a driver in this business. AFF (Josh), GMan, Yoopr, Scoe, Twilight Flyer, Mad Dog, Bush Bunny and the others have diesel fuel in their veins and have more combined experience than they like to think about. One great thing about this industry are the folks like them that have been there, done that and are willing to share their experiences with others. So if I were you I'd listen to them and heed their advice. Do that and you can't go wrong as truck driving is an ongoing learning experience and as an old salt once told me: anytime you think you know everything there is to know about trucking you'd better park your truck because you're about to kill yourself or somebody else.

I have apps from swift-stevens-prime . I like the idea of 5 days classroom to get your permit then out on the road . real life driving not tooling around a parking lot . working the docks and driving yard truck for 19 years you need the experince in different docks and shippers.so that is why prime is my first choice. the only worry i have is being pushed into a lease-progam.

I have always tossed swift and england around on who i was going to go with,
i did fill out a app on thursday night and i just had to fax over a release form and a few more things. My recruiter yold me that i should be getting a call next week with a confirm on them accepting me and then set a date for school in july. And in 6 months if i keep my nose clean and i'm on time i can get on a dedicated run and be home more. I will be attending school in lewistion, Id. if all goes well. Does anyone know what is involed in a work well assessment with swift is?

In my opinion...with Swift you can just about right your own ticket right out of school. I was told the 6 month rule for dedicated job also, but 3 days after I went Solo they were trying to get me to join the Walmart dedicated or some Paper mill route. Not to mention tons of office openings all the time, I could have gone into the office without much driving experience at all. That is just my experience coming from the Phoenix terminal, it might be different at the other terminals. Good luck.

Default Which one?

Not much of a selection, but out of the 3, you would be best to go with Swift for a starter company. I think they are the lesser of the three evils. Good luck!
