You may check with your local state employment office to see if they might be able to help you with the CDL. If you lived in Texas, there are some places that will ,rent you a truck and trailer to take the driving test. You may find something similar near you that you could pay to use their truck to take the CDL test. Having a felon that is less than 5 years old will be a problem with most of the larger carriers. Some require a 10 year history with no infractions to be willing to even consider you. It will take some leg work on your part to find something that will work. Chicago has a lot of trucks. But, you need to find a way to get your CDL. If you can get your license back, you will be much more marketable. In a worst case, you may need to wait until your felony is at least 5 years old. Once you have that mark on your back, people want you to prove yourself.

 

In my part of illinois, there is a Truck rental faucility, but they rent only to trucking fleets (trucking companies). As far as being marketable again, i'm going apes**t right now (felony is less than 3 years old). I need to get back to work A.S.A.P., my creditors do not want to hear that i'm dirt poor, living on the streets, and having a felony in my background. All my creditors care about is their money, they won't stop hounding me and won't take no for an answer. From a legal standpoint, i can obtain my C.D.L. Class A without the hazmat endorsement, but it's finding a way to get it, is the biggest challenge.
