well blue [I hire drivers that make twice of what I do. Does it bother me. Not in the least because it is a difference in the occupation. I am not going to write a congressmen to have him regulate it because I think government regulates to much the way it is.

See Blue that is were drivers are coming from. we do not have the luxury of the FLSA to help us. I am sure your a forth right and honest person and do not put pie in the sky dreams in peoples faces. But to be honest and for me to respect some one that tells me what its like to drive for thier company and they are not nor ever have been a driver. credablity is shot out the window. The first company I worked for GTI thier recuiters are drivers most of which have any ten to fifteen years over the road with GTI ask scoe. But i like driving local now and being a teamster. But I do miss the road till I remeber all the bad weather food and waisted time at the docks. [/quote]

One could never understand some company's "business desisions! :roll: Here is my story, try to explain this one! I got offered a load, 2 stops, on LI NY. 1st coming off at noon, second at midnite. I asked, if they gonna pay me, for the time lost in between, no way! I said, then i'm not taking it! So they made an arrangment, to deliver the second stop, to a LTL company, right there in a "island", so i was actualy getting paid the same money, w/o waisting any time! 8) Later, i asked the boss, how much, did the pay "locals", for that drop? The answer-$435 :shock: So i asked, why couldn't they pay me to wait, i'd gladly do that for a half of money? The answer was, that's this question, is way above his level! And the guy was in charge of company van division! 8)

Sounds like as a new driver, I have jumped from the pot(snack vendor) into the frying pan(truck driving). :shock:

Well, so far, the company Im gonna work for does:

-Pay for Lumpers
-Trucks governed at 75mph (I know, poor me) :lol:
-.29 to start after training(no experience)
-.125 cpm while training(sux but I got to start somewhere) but we also run teams(me and the trainer)
-After training, I get to pick dedicated/regional/otr (mmm, options)

I feel that we as drivers should get paid for everything we do. Unions & good companies do this for their drivers.

I say, 3 of my instructors are retired from Roadway. They couldn't be more happier with their pensions. If they have to wait, they made $20/hr. If they had a breakdown on the road, paid $20/hr.
.45-.50 cmp to start is not bad.

The downside was being parttime(no bennys) and married to the phone(boohoo!!!!) :lol:

Look, Im willing to bend over backwards for my company, and have been known to do so, but I want to get paid; I mean, isn't that why we are there? :?:

That's the proper attitude Robert! 8) Just a small sujestion- Do not "bend over", for anybody! :wink:
