Read the few links below that discuss what happened to a truck driver running over his hours of service . As someone stated in one of the links below I am sure he didn't want to hurt anyone, however he is the one that got behind the wheel knowing he was over his hours of service.
This whole accident was based on the fact he was driving over his 11 & 14 hour rule! Do a research on Truck driver Taylor University and you can find more articles. Keep in mind when they mention fatigue they get "fatigue" from knowing the driver was over his hours of service. The driver is in prison at this time. To me he got darn lucky and only served 4 years in prison.
