Default GEM Racing no more

Looks like it's about to become GM Racing. Elliott Sadler was suddenly kicked out for AJ Allmendinger to take his spot and team founder Ray Evernham was seen cleaning out his office and leaving town with all of his most cherished items. Suspected that Evernham was very pissed about the change, team sponsors were not happy and may leave if they find a better suiter.

Nothing against Allmendinger, I think he's a great driver. Had he not been punted from Red Bull he would have a great shot at winning a race or two this coming year.

Add-on, Ray Evernham was kept completely in the dark about this driver change. Ray has also confirmed he is finished with Gillette on NASCAR Radio with Dave Moody. Gillette is now talking of merging with Petty Enterprises which has a lot of eyebrows raised. If it goes thru, they will need to find another driver for the #43 since Bobby Labonte left the team. With that happening, then why was Sadler released when they could have put him or AJ in the #43.

In other news, Regan Smith has moved from DEI to Furniture Row Racing after DEI told him they would not have a car for him in 2009 due to sponsorship issue's. He will have a part time ride with the #78 team which is better than no ride.

Don't be surprised if Denny Hamlin is one of the first Cup drivers busted in the drug tests. Also, don't be surprised if he is sent packing from Gibbs in the near future for other reasons. He and Kyle Busch have been playing nice in public but behind closed doors fists have flown between the two with Hamlin being the instigator.
