Referee nails South Carolina QB

I think the only way to fix it is to have the ump watching from upstairs on a video monitor that only shows the line play. With that, only the ref is still on the field and he does a good job of getting out of the way. Question is, if the ump see's a hold(which is his job to watch for in the line) how does he throw a flag?

But, to answer your question, if someone upstairs saw holding, he radios it to the referee in his ear, and the ref throws the flag. Problem solved.

OK, that makes more sense that he got juked. I only saw the one angle a couple of times and it really looked like he stepped into the players path and threw a shoulder. I can see how fans would have been angry.

Hobo, it's easier for him to see holding by being behind the D-line if he's calling it on an O-lineman. If he can see the O-lineman's hands on the back of a D-lineman, it's holding. Better view from upstairs by being able to see all the video. Next question, is he going to be rewinding the tape and watching it after every play or just calling it as he see's it on the monitor with no rewind?
