There's a whole lot more to a steer axle being rated for and being legal for a specific weight other than the side wall capacity rating. The greater the capacity the bigger the axle, the bigger the springs and the bigger the steering components including wheel bearings. Loading a 12,000 lb rated axle to 16,000 lbs just because you added the 16,000 lb tires to the axle is insanity.

Agreed. Thats basically what I said. When I said "manufacturer's specs" I was referring to the truck manufacturer. You know, the sticker in the door jam. Sorry for the confusion.

im glad your both on the same page, im just haveing fun giving my two cents to what is being writion not what one thinks they ment.

ya Ive heard of spell check, but i don't fill i must be perfect to be accepted, for some people they fill less if there not perfect. now don't take that wrong as i can tell your not one of them,if you used spell check then you know its two words.

were truckers here helping each other and finding some humor in our down time
