Remember "Dizzy", the "fuel hauler" from the SF Bay area who had a whopping 6 weeks of driving experience?? The same "Dizzy" who got the job as a noobie because he "showed up for the interview in the right dress" (his/her/it's words) ?? The same "Dizzy" who lived in the "$740,000. house who, as a 6 week wonder, made more money than you or me?? The same "Dizzy" who couldn't answer some very basic questions that I asked him about the pruchase of his home, and couldn't answer your basic questions about the safe operation of a tanker?? THAT'S the guy we saw climbing out of the truck wearing his 8" Stilletos!!

I would find a source other than Wikipedia.

Most, state laws simply prohibit driving barefoot. I seem to recall a few states prohibiting the wearing of flip flop type sandals (those without a heel strap) while driving. These laws are found under the general driving codes of individual states. Personally I would never wear sandals while driving a truck. Too many chemicals laying around a truck stops and warehouses that could come in contact with your skin and potentially cause problems. I always wore leather tennis shoes or boots while driving. You must be driving an automatic. No way I would drive a standard with sandals. Eventually, you will end up with a bloody foot. FWIW, save the sandals for the beach. When driving you are at work, dress the part.

When I stopped and got out of my truck I was waiting for someone to come to me when this inspector came up to the truck beside mine. The driver got out and this inspector immediately started to beret him for wearing sandals. Told him they weren't allowed while driving. Told him the fine was big and did he really want to pay it. This happened at the coop on I-95 just as you cross into Ohio from Penn. Maybe it's an Ohio state ruling??? I have no idea.
this has been an educational experience for me too----as the Arkansas State Trooper CDL examiner- told our whole graduating class in 1994 it was against the old/then ICC regulations & state code of Arkansas to wear that kind of improper footwear. But, I've never actually seen any thing in writing about it...or have been bothered personally---sometimes in the summer I wear flip/flops-- my feet sweet too much otherwise. And I try to regrow hair below the sock line. It might just be "Urban Legion". As a side thought----you all do know that "spinners" or suicide knobs on steering wheels are Illegal too.
