I drove in sandals or flip-flops in warmer climes, including going into DOT checkpoints, and never had any trouble.

Upon arriving at a shipper or consignee, or entering a repair facility, I either wore sneakers of boots, depending upon circumstances.

Never was questioned or challenged by any LEO on the matter.

Now, back when I was into motorcycles, (25yrs. ago) there were local laws that forbade wearing flip-flops while operating a motorcycle, and that was easy enough to understand.

But our main office is based in Girard,OH

Only two accounts had to get the Ironage shoes. And both had problems with the shoes. Now the one in Pittsburgh is out of business. Wonder why.

jnk2001, I don't know if it is actually in writing. I've never looked into it. All I know is what I saw and I heard an inspector telling another driver. I was flagged for inspection at a scale and a guy who was ahead of me was also. When I stopped and got out of my truck I was waiting for someone to come to me when this inspector came up to the truck beside mine. The driver got out and this inspector immediately started to beret him for wearing sandals. Told him they weren't allowed while driving. Told him the fine was big and did he really want to pay it. This happened at the coop on I-95 just as you cross into Ohio from Penn. Maybe it's an Ohio state ruling??? I have no idea.

Wait a second, a coop on "I-95" crossing into the Buckeye?? Huh?

Of course, from what alot of truck drivers have said in their storys, it seems by their accounts, DOT officers make up their own rules at times.

Yoopr, them are the best boots I've ever worn.

Useless, there is a law about wearing flip flops on a motorcycle?, but yet, you can ride without a helmet?

Well, Jackrabbit,

As I stated, this was 25years ago. The helmet laws have gone back & forth, as far as being required vs. not required.

The laws that governed wearinf flip-flops while driving were more on a local level. That was when I lived down in Corpus Christi, Tx., and yes, there were laws on the local levels that addressed that.

IIRC, and it has been a while since It has been some time since my biking days, I believe that thev helmet law was in force at the time.
