Figure I should should post a little something since I'm sitting around all weekend.
Posted my truck on Monday and sure enough, didn't get a load until the next day. It always seems to go that way. I got a load of wire for the power company in New Mexico. It's 6 big reals of wire and weighs in about 48,400 so I was close to max. For some reason, my truck and trailer fully loaded, full tanks and me is pretty light. Not sure why this is but the load pulled really good like I only had 20,000 on the back. Then there are some loads that are 30,000 that pull like 100,000. Can't figure that one out. I pretty much took my time until Thursday morning when I realized the load had to be delivered on Friday morning. Not sure what I was thinking but I thought in the back of my mind that I loaded on Monday instead of Tuesday. I ended up doing 700 miles on Thursday. Slept for 6 hours then on the road at 1am and did 770 miles on Friday. Needless to say I was a little illegal. Come to find out, they didn't give a crap when the load got there. Once again, my GPS faked me out and led me down a residential street that was just added. The street I needed was one more down. I pulled over in front of a rest home and two old guys out front puttering. I asked them where the power company was and they told me then started to argue about how I should turn around. They were both truck drivers in the past. Pretty funny to listen to them. NO, HE CAN'T GO THAT WAY....He won't make the turn. I could make the turn said the other one. Then they are going back and forth. They weren't mad at each other, sort of like Grumpy Old Men in the movie. Pretty funny. Cracks me up when I see these signs that say "BUMP" and it's always a little thing that you don't even feel. Then, 5 miles down the road your truck and trailer is launched into the air 2 feet with no warning. I'm sitting in the TA in Moriarty New Mexico for the weekend watching movies and just hanging out. I had a PM done around 3am and that will most likely be the highlight of my weekend. I want to get more tires for my trailer because 6 of them are mismatched and wearing pretty quick. I've been saying this for a while but they still are good. Just bugs me. No truck washes in New Mexico. Not sure why? I was going through Texas early in the morning and ran into a swarm of something that lasted for a good 20 miles. I never saw what kind of bugs they were but they were MASSIVE. They hit the windshield probably 2 per second and sounded like baseballs they were so big. It was really really really gross...BIG TIME. My windshield wipers were caked with bug guts.. Tootie would have been barfing her brains out. Got passed by a crotch rocket going at least 150mph weaving in and out of trucks and cars. That was the fastest vehicle I've ever seen on the road. Pretty boring ride all in all. I was real concerned about the coils on the back as it was the first time I've ever had to secure something like that. I used 9 chains in all. 2 on the front, 1 on each in the middle and 3 on the back. It took me 2 days before I felt good about it. It was real tight the whole trip. I need to remember to oil up the chain binders when I put them on. They rust up a little before you unload and real hard to break free when you first try to loosen them. I'm thinking about doing what I did when I raced motocross. We use to boil our chains in oil for a while that would impregnate the chains. I use to have a hot plate with a 2x4 sticking up and a barbecue rotisserie at the top with a sprocket on it. That use to run all night rotating the chain into the hot oil. So, my truck is posted for Monday then off to roam around for 2 or 3 more weeks. I'm thinking about heading down to El Paso and going over the border. I met a guy who hauls local and pretty much lives over there and said he would show me around and introduce me to the right people. A few shots of cheap Tequila to the local cops and your in like flint. Gaining weight here!!!! 10 pounds since November of last year. |
Gaining weight here!!!! 10 pounds since November of last year. Company I work for is hdqt'd in Albuquerque...my assistant and her cowboy husband lives about 15 miles due south of Moriarty off of NM 41. There is freakin NOTHING out there but flat arid land, wind, and dust (in my humble opinion)....but they love it. |

Steve....how do I get a pre-pass?

Just go to www.prepass.com and enroll

Thanks.
We have an ISS-D score of twenty-freaking-two for crying out loud and we are getting inspected at least twice a week (NY and ON). If I had pre-pass I should be getting green lights.....at least in NY. |
