You have to admit that the whole “I’m asking for a friend” routine is beyond cliché. The idea that somebody not involved in our industry would bother to take to time to sign up for an account is difficult to believe. The overly defensive tone of your reply to Hobo makes you look guilty as hell. Do I care one bit? Nope. Just sayin’.
Thanks Musicman... I think. At the risk of your own CAD reputation, you have more than once offered me at least SOME cover. I COULD be wrong, of course.

I HAVE been a bit bored lately. And things at work have caused me alot of stress in the last 6+ months. Add in the constant barrage of anti-Obama rhetoric since 2008, and I have perhaps become a bit angry and defensive. Even cynical.

I don't care if Scarleone is an Eastern European agent for a truck sales company. Or an export specialist. I don't care WHAT he/she is! I just think there are certain forums for those kinds of questions, where people lay it on the line, and get "consumer feedback" on valid questions.

First joined on 3/13 with a single post (on O/O forum) asking why WE thought truck prices had increased in such a short time. Asked if it was because OUR "American" dollar had been devalued in those two years. Without another post (of thanks or info) on that thread...

Second post on O/O forum EXACTLY one month later (to the day) with a different question about who might have bought from a certain dealer in MI... and asking for 'reviews.'

Followed up one week later (to the day) with a political question about a "non-viable" candidate in the more heavily trafficked POLITICS forum (with no followup.)

Came back on the 13th of the third month since joining with a question about leasing agreements and WHAT they can get you to pay.

Followed up MY comments with a few more of her/his own since being "challenged." It's the TIMING that caught my eye. The statistical ODDS that a new member/poster would show up on the same day of 3 consecutive months in a row are "astronomical." Someone do a nexus search and tell me that that has happened EVER before with the 2,000 plus "members" on CAD!

And THEN.... there was that "faux pas" of saying "she" wasn't IN the business after saying "she" had bought a truck 2 years ago?

Call me paranoid, folks, if that makes you happy. My best friend calls me that. I can't help it... I TOLD you I was trained to notice such things!

Check her/his profile. 12 visits... but only by 3 of us. ME... and two mods/administrators. [I've only been there about 3 or 4 times.]

I've offered an apology if he/she wants to ask for it. But... no such evidence of offense - or request - has been proffered. I wonder how "it" knew about Alex Jones? And how they could even THINK that "I" would be a listener?

Unlike MANY in our business, and even some here, I have no prejudice against Eastern European (slavic) post-USSR drivers or "salespeople." ...(what MANY fellow truckers call "Russians.") But, there is no doubt that Scarleone is of such heritage. "She/he" may be a legal immigrant (on a path to U.S. Citizenship) and I have no problem with that.

I have a problem with DECEPTION.

And from where I stand, that is what I see. If I am wrong, I ONCE AGAIN, offer an apology to Scarleone if he/she wants to tell me I am wrong. I see no reason why someone in that position would not be welcomed here in SOME (or any) forum as long as they are honest with us about their intentions.

But, when it comes right down to it... I don't care anymore than YOU do, Musicman.

[But, to set the record straight... I did not question that he/she might NOT be something that they might BE... I KNEW that they originally "posed" to be something that they were NOT. When Scarleone admitted (unwittingly) that they were NOT "in the business," they confirmed what I thought from the beginning.]

Simply because I love this country, and I think that is the right way to go!
I do not need your apology, I know I am clean and there is nothing to hide!
I am interested in this industry, and that is about it! Today I probably broke the timing, that you were looking into, and I apologize for confusing you today!!!
And yes Ron Paul is very viable, but the thing is you will never know that, because you were fed on news about terror and American Idol, dancing with the stars and so on, and so on!!
Have a great day/night!!
And oh yes, I am from south Europe, where most of your grandparents were born, and came from to USA to look for the better life, and this is the only country where such accomplishment can be achieved! Doesn't Scarleone sound like Italian name? just asking!

Well... ya got me there! Some others here claim the same problem.

Quote:
I am US CITIZEN,
That's entirely possible... and I DO apologize if I've offended ANY American citizen. But, lately... it's getting pretty easy for some to get that honor. Please don't pretend that you "came with the territory" like so many of us did. If you were even "second generation" immigrant, and had attended American public school, your English would be a little more "home-made." just sayin'

Quote:
I am not some eastern European agent or spy,
I didn't say that you were EITHER. An "agent" for a sales company or leasing corp., is not the same as a "spy." I'm the only SPY on this forum... and have the credentials to prove it. [lol!] Your inability to comprehend my meaning of those words, reinforces my analysis.

Quote:
I am check this out MUSLIM ,not the terrorist that FOX news wants you to believe, and I support RON PAUL, that is little too hard to believe for you, Muslim Republican Wow!!!
Actually, I am stymied by the thought of a Muslim/American "libertarian." ???

I never ASKED (or alluded to) your Religion... tho in your part of the world it is quite closely tied to your "ethnicity." I know there are both Muslims AND Christians in Bosnia... as well as the other segments of the former Yugoslavia. NEVER forget.... Clinton (and America) came to the aid of the Muslims that were being "genocided" by the Serb "Christians."

If you knew ANYTHING about me, you'd know I HATE FoxNews! [I remember now... that you made some comment about that in your sole foray into the Politics Forum thread that you started (and never returned to... IIRC.)] ... Perhaps, we have something in common?

My current neighbor (a duplex apt.) is a Moroccan "muslim." We sit around for HOURS discussing the "Theo-Politics" of the Middle East, America... and the more civilized World we would like to see.

My Ex is a Mexican/American Catholic. My father is a Southern Baptist Preacher/Minister/Pastor... whatever. My GodSon is Puerto Rican/American Jew, and I stepped in as a "father figure" for 3 Jewish American kids who have turned out alright.

Please.... do not "presume" to know what I would be capable of "believing!" ... or accepting. Or even "knowing."

Quote:
And yes Ron Paul is very viable, but the thing is you will never know that, because you were fed on news about terror and American Idol, dancing with the stars and so on, and so on!!
I think we covered the fact that I don't "glom on" to shows like American Idol, Dancing..., and anything much on FoxNews. And, I take offense to your LECTURING me on American Politics ... and propaganda.

You think Paul is "viable?" Okay... go ahead and use your "citizen's right" to VOTE for him! I BEG you to! Cuz a vote for Ron Paul is a "divider" vote for the Republican candidate.... and a SURE vote for OBAMA this year! Ask ANY Republican/Conservative on this board!

Quote:
Simply because I love this country, and I think that is the right way to go!
We ALL "love this country." Even those who are trying to tear it down. Recent immigrants have no more passion for this country than the average "unaffected" American... much LESS than any trucker on this board! Think of this...

If Ron Paul had been president in the early/mid 90's... instead of Clinton (a Democrat...) America would have stayed OUT of that little "ethnic conflict" in a faraway land... and there would have been NO FUNDING for the military participation (with NATO.) Russian military support of the Serb side would have led to the second "hallocaust" in our lifetimes. And YOU would probably NOT be in America today... let alone a citizen! [Unless I really miss my guess.]

So... go ahead and vote for him. Get ALL your friends to vote for him.

Quote:
I do not need your apology, I know I am clean and there is nothing to hide!

I am interested in this industry, and that is about it!
Really? Offer of apology is rescinded. You are definitely "interested" in the industry. According to you, you bought a truck but don't know why the prices went up in 2007. Still... you're "looking to buy a truck ina next 2 weeks." Did you BUY that truck several months ago now? What was it? Was is also for "export?" How was the "lease" structured? Was it bought from River City?

Quote:
Today I probably broke the timing, that you were looking into, and I apologize for confusing you today!!!
Not really. Other patterns are still holding. [And then there's that whole "he's on to me, now" thingie.]

I'm KNOWN for doing my research here. [Or at least for CLAIMING to do it.] Well... I did it on you. And I FOUND you. On page 29 [TWENTY-NINE] of google results... Do you KNOW how much persistence that takes? (lol.)

BUSTED!

Yes... when one looks at the map... Yugoslavia is just east of Italy. Closer to the Med than to Siberia or Moscow. I spent 1 1/2 yrs in Greece (just south of you.) NO ONE that I know of considers that "southern Europe." And VERY FEW of the original immigrants to America were even "ALLOWED" to come from there. Don't try to "school" us [ME] on where our forefathers and family CAME from.

I understand what you say about America being the "only" country of opportunity for immigrants. But... it is not really TRUE! Muslims have emigrated to the United Kingdom with great financial success. Hong Kong has been a financial mecca for years! While in Greece, I met MANY young women on their way to success and fortune in the United Arab Emirates.

Quote:
But You my friend are much closer to Russia, than the place where I was born, disappointed I know, sorry!
Seriously? I am 7 hours drive from my nation's capital. Bosnia is about the same from Moscow. You think I am closer to Moscow than YOU were? Oh... maybe, you're using statute miles over the North Pole? Whatever.

Quote:
Doesn't Scarleone sound like Italian name? just asking!
Yes, it does. And you ALMOST had me there. I figured you weren't a black man, a guitarist, or a Marketing company registered in London (though, I'm still thinking about this one.) Maybe, you were a "gamer" using that name for a fake "Italian mafia" team. But... IF I had any questions, they were answered on page 29 of google search when I found THIS...

Semi Truck Financing to help Truck Drivers become Self Employed

[Read the original post... then scroll to the bottom of the page and look for Scarleone's post.]

Granted you joined there AFTER joining here. Maybe we didn't GIVE you enough free info that answered your questions.

But, there is no doubt in MY mind, WHO you are and what you are after. And, on THIS website/forum... you could have taken a more HONEST approach.

Quote:
Oh, regarding Alex Jones, I just throw it out there, sometimes I like listening to him, my bad!
IF you do... that is definitely a "your bad."

I have no problem with what you are doing for a living. I am glad you are safe here in America. I guess I just had a problem, from the beginning, and still do... with the WAY you are doing it here on THIS message board.

Oh, heck.... NOW people like "Robert" will say that I have run YOU off, too. [Have you even READ Robert's message on your profile page?]

Not much of a loss, if you ask me. But... I'd rather NOT. If you want to know things about truck leasing, etc. ... just ASK the guys here!

But, be HONEST about how and WHY you are asking!

Maybe, I'll see you in the Politics Forum. I am always interested in how the rest of the world SEES America. So far... you've implied that we're all a bunch of "FoxBots" that can't tell the difference between a Jihaddist and an Eastern European of the Muslim faith. I'd like to have the chance to prove otherwise.

For someone who claims to LOVE America... you sure have a "narrow" view of us.

Just Sayin'

Nice chatting! But why don't you live "Russia", or "Russians" out of it. We are no worse, or better than any other, who came to find a better life in this great country. And (i'm speaking for myself), it was not about the money.

Wow, I figured the thread would be dead with my last post.

Hobo, could you elaborate on my “offering cover” for you in the past as well as what you think my CAD reputation is? I’m just curious. I didn't intend for anything I posted regarding you to have a negative connotation in any way.

Apparently there’s a lot more going on here than I realized. I don’t pay that much attention to what’s happening on CAD besides what I see when I take quick peeks at the O/O and Maintenance sections every now and then. I’ve never once ventured into the political threads, as I learned long ago that it wasn’t worth the time or energy to post there.

Since it has been brought up in this thread, I would like to say that I never understand why Conservatives are so successfully demonized by the Left as being racists, among other evil things. There are racist Conservatives, but I only know first-hand of one (my wife’s favorite niece), and she and I no longer talk because of it. In my experience, there are just as many racist Liberals, although the racism usually manifests in different ways on the Left. I have no problem with legal and orderly immigration, whether it is from Serbia, Pakistan, Mexico, Kenya or any other country. All of us in this country, even the American Indian, are immigrants. Genealogy is a hobby of mine, and having some of my lines traced back to Charlemagne, I know I have everything from German, Swiss, American Indian and Scottish blood. My first wife is Puerto Rican and I admit to having a “thing” for exotic accents. With all that in mind, it still makes sense for immigration to be done legally and a reasonable, controlled rate. Quite frankly, I would also like to see the immigration quotas tied to unemployment rates. If unemployment in our country rises above, say seven or eight percent, than it makes no logical sense to import more folks when there are not enough jobs for the ones who are already here. Does that make me racist? Many on the Left would certainly say so because it is easier to demonize than to debate.

I have no problem with the huge influx of Eastern Europeans (my old home town, Chicago for some reason seems to be the new Slavic capital of the U.S.) in the trucking industry. My wife and I actually leased onto one of those companies for a short time five or six years ago. I got out of the box and reefer business because I can’t compete with folks that are willing to put two or three (or four) drivers in a truck and, for $1.20 a mile, literally run the wheels of the thing. I don’t blame any immigrant, legal or otherwise, for coming to the U.S. in an attempt to build a safer, wealthier and happier life for him or herself. I DO want them to obey all our laws, including immigration laws and even the one nobody seems to want to enforce that requires CDL holders to speak English.

What really troubles me about many of today’s immigrants is that they seem to have little or no interest in becoming Americans… not the legal status, many of them want THAT. I’m talking about assimilating our culture. At the turn of the 20th Century, when immigrants came through Elis Island, they WANTED to speak English and learn American customs. These days, many and perhaps most, seem to want all the benefits being an American legally affords without actually BECOMING American in heart and mind. Go to Florida and California and you can find whole cities where almost nobody speaks English or identifies themselves as American. I have no problem with folks holding onto and celebrating their heritage, but if they are going to be Americans in name, they should also embrace the existing American culture and language as well.

I cannot tell from your post if you are talking to me or Scarleone. I can be really dumb sometimes. I am sorry if I said anything disparaging against you or your people. You have always been one of my favorite posters here on CAD. I didn't know you were of Russian heritage, and I thought I made it clear that I have no problem with that.

There is certainly a difference between Russians and those who became "citizens" of the U.S.S.R. But, I doubt there is much difference in the FREE spirit that resides within ALL of you... not so much different than ALL of us Americans.

I have no problem with ANYONE who legally emigrated to America. European (and Russian) immigrants SETTLED and built the America we all love! But, there was a time when that was very difficult for Russians or "Eastern European" citizens while part of... or after gaining independence from... the U.S.S.R.

There is too much prejudice in America today against ANYONE who is not from HERE. I don't buy into that! An ACCENT [or color] is usually all that is needed to light the fire. In Europe, or most of the rest of the World, accents [and colors] are taken as an INTRO to get to know that person and HIS/HER life experience. That has certainly ALWAYS been MY reaction!

I have always given special attention to any of your posts, Solo. I DO miss your avatar though... and wish you'd do something about that.
