I'm not sure I'd be so quick to dismiss your current truck. Yes, the recent iterations of the c-13 have some issues. However, as with any engine these days, there are good and bad examples. With modern emissions-controlled engines, those that have problems do so through their entire life. The fact that yours has been trouble free would lead one to believe that it will remain that way. It's possible that you might be in for a rebuild a little sooner, but with the history, after doing the work you should again be trouble free. There simply is no substitution for knowing a truck and engine from day one. It would be worth doing a little research regarding the c-13. I would start with Pittsburgh Power. They know Cats and I believe Bruce is particularly familiar with the c-13. I can almost guarantee that he would tell you not to be worried, given the engine history.
