That looks like a nice truck. I would look for a truck with about 425-450hp and rears around 354. That is sufficient to give good pulling power while delivering decent fuel economy. Since it is a fleet truck you may want to check maintenance records. Contrary to popular belief, not all fleet trucks are well maintained. I would suggest at least doing an oil sample and perhaps a dyno when you find a truck you actually want to purchase.

You might wanna pm Gman as he's very familiar with International trucks and I believe he owns one or two. Looks like a good truck.

Looks like an old Ryder or other fleet truck, usually well maintained, but pretty basic, also at 460,000 the warranty is all but done with.

C-13 is a small engine probably good fuel mileage , but at 430HP it is already opened up all the way, if you are hauling lite weight and flat ground it will work OK, heavy loads and mountains will be slow going and poor fuel mileage.

A small engine has to work hard most of the time, a big engine doesn't work hard unless YOU need it to.

Smaller is NOT always better

Well, i was going through charlotte headed up 77N, i stopped by to look at truck. It look nice they detail it very well. i did not have time to drive it. I field out a credit app and got approved. i got it with no money down and payment $795 a month for 36 months, intrest rate 14.8%. I used to sell cars, so i know a little about financing. i think i can do better on the rate. i think they are holding back on a couple of points. I dont know much about financing a truck for a 1st time buyer.

What do yall think about that? Plus i would like to purchase a warranty with it. I will have it dyno and oil sample before i do anything.

That's pretty much the truck I have, but mine is a 2004. I'd try to find a truck with all aluminum wheels. I have steel rims on the drive axles, and they: 1) rust; 2) weigh 200 lbs more than aluminum ones. Also, larger fuel tanks can be useful: you can buy fuel at a good price and then drive through 'expensive' areas. I have 2 big tanks and I can go 1,000 miles without refueling.

I got mine with 3.73 ratios but now changed them to 3.42 and it's much better in terms of speed and fuel economy.

well, i bought truck.. It was an PTL truck, the same company i work for. I talked to road maintenance they said they never had any major issues with truck. Also, had it dynoed at the cat dealership it passed. i got my payments where i want them, $767 a month for 39 months. I also, got a 2yr warranty with it. Im satisfied with it.
