How are rates??

If your dad is grossing $5,000/week and getting home every weekend, then I would say that he is very fortunate. In talking to others many are not even grossing $3,000/week. Few that I talk with exceed $4,000/week.

It depends on where you are running. Some areas rates have come up and others have rates that are flat. I have been offered rates from about $1-2.50/mile for flats. Most seem to be between $1.30-1.60/mile.

I have bben getting $1.80 a mile. but only 140 mi runs, 1 way, & empty going back. some have paid $725.00 to the truck going out w/ 48,000 lbs, 500 miles, but coming back home getting less. ave, 1.28 for all miles. thats including 220 deadhead miles. running n/ne/ & back south. & that's the good runs.

I think that if you are going to lease to a carrier that it is best to lease to one that doesn't have their own trucks. When they have their own trucks they are most often given priority over owner operators who are leased to them, especially when the economy is down.
