Employed!

I just got to thinking, man, they spent thousands of dollars to train me and to outfit my truck. In the meantime, I did a pretty good job (got along fine with everyone, really reliable, not afraid to stay out with the freight, no accidents or incidents- thank you Jesus!)
I also thought about my changeover costs, since even the other tanker outfits don't use the equipment I do- Miller for one doesn't. So, I sent an email in asking if they would find me a position with one of the other terminals. Apparently, someone thought that was a fine idea, got on it, and I'm supposed to call back this afternoon about my first dispatch next week! Happy, happy, joy, joy! I tell you what, though, I'm improving my appearance. Like I said, I did a pretty decent job the first time around, but I'm going to tighten it up a little. There's nothing I can do to make my company stay in business, but I can beat a lot of O/Os on cost and in willingness to sit in Timbuktu waiting on freight. I can't make the company stay in business but I can at least try to be one of the last O/Os standing if guys start parking their trucks. What's the new budget, $4 trillion dollars!? Tax revenues are way off!? Hang onto your hats!

I mentioned that in one post............LOL..........I figured even those dopes over at QC would figure it out eventually, a little slow, but at least it worked out for you.

That's excellent news!

Hey, that's really nice. And, BlooMoose and everyone.
Joliet, OTG. With me, they sound like they're fully staffed, though not saying they don't keep more or less O/Os, not just one magic number. Joliet is physically about the nicest terminal we have. I don't mean to be a downer about economic projections. It's just that I follow politics and the numbers, and the numbers we see nowadays- just mindboggling, outta this world! Then you read about all the crookedness in Washington and on Wall Street (naked short selling, Russian mafia...) Rutherford is supposed to go over some financial or economic data this weekend. Should be pretty interesting. But, I'm doing the family thing instead. Last edited by lowrange; 02-27-2009 at 01:26 PM.
