The CLC Check Inn Card is one of those deals that seems too good to be true... but it's true.

We've had the card for 3 of the 4 major repairs we've had done to the trucks we've owned and what a money saver! They get their $4.95 and that comes out of the rate you pay- so you pay $45 for a $90 hotel room and that's it. The hotel pays CLC $4.95.

We've had the card for years and I think there was one mischarge- but they contacted me and corrected it before the statement even hit my mail box. I don't remember exactly what it was, but their customer service is IMO very good.

I've never had any problems with them.

When I tell people about it, they never believe me until they finally sign up.

If you have to get a hotel, it's the way to go.

OOIDA still has the card. I signed up a few days ago. I compared the weekend rates using CheckInn vs AAA and sometimes AAA is cheaper. It depends on the hotel and location. Either way, it doesn't hurt to have the card.

Most of the time, I can get almost as good a rate on my own at the hotels we use. Granted, we don't stay at most of their contracted hotels. We did use it last night though. Excellent BW in Gainesville, FL. Best rate I could have gotten was about $100. With the card it was $55+4.95 (the hotel doesn't pay the service fee, it's tacked onto your statement).

I believe that every time that I have used the Check Inn card that I have had to pay the service fee myself in addition to the hotel or motel charge. It still saves money.

Yes. The $4.95 fee is on top of the room rate, but when CLC charges your card, it is all lumped together.

So...should I get the card through CheckINN or through OOIDA? If it's all the same, I might use OOIDA since they probably get a kickback of some sort and I'd just as soon they get it as anyone else.

Edit: Scratch this question. I signed up with Checkinn and printed off the temp. registration card.

I have used the Corporate Lodging card or CheckInn Direct card and it's great!
Even with the $4.95 a night fee they charge --I have stayed in $98 a night hotels for less than $50 a night.
You just can't argue with that.

I don't use it much, but when I do it has saved me quite a bit of money. I was able to negotiate a better deal on one motel a year or so ago. They aren't valid at ALL motels, but are accepted at most. Any time that I have stayed at any of the others I have gotten a corporate rate. Some of those are good discounts.

Oh, I take it all back! Corporate Lodging Card is screwing us all! First of all they are not paying the hotel the amount they tell you! They pay the hotels an average of about $10 LESS than they are telling their 'members'. Add to that the $4.95 a night fee for using their service --they are screwing the hotel and you.
They have screwed me but good and I am finished with Corporate Lodging Card for good. They just put 2 pending charges of over $400 each (for ONE hotel stay) on my only credit card and now that credit card is over balance!! I am 2,000 miles from home with no credit card. I am screwed! They can take their Corporate Lodging "check inn direct" card and shove where the sun don't shine!

What worked for me was showing the hotel the card and then offering to pay them direct.
