Default T-600s

I drove a t-600 today for the 1st time,,, and well i fell in love,,, it was like a new truck, all tight, and a nice ride over rr tracks was very noticable didnt have the sloppy feel of the 900s ive driven over the years and this truck has 807 thousand miles on it, i was blown away!!!! And it turned so tight im afraid of rear ending my own trailer!!!!

Now here is my problem my buddy and ex boss say they are to light for oilfield support and pulling single and dbl belly dumps in road construction.

Also my buddy says they tend to have over heating problems and break down more often?

i think that's way too much for those miles, but they're overall good trucks. i see a lot of drivers pulling belly dumps and end dumps and doing general road construction related work with t600s. the key is to get one that is spec'd out properly, and i think if i were you i'd look for somethin with a little bit lower rear end. when it comes to heavy duty oil field work, like moving 100k plus rig sections, you can't beat a mack. they will take a lot of abuse and they dont have complicated suspensions that wear out from heavy duty, off road service. plus, imo, i think they're easier to finds parts for, work on, etc.

seems like ALOT of miles but the ISX is a GREAT engine. Has there been ANY engine work done yet??

Water pump right now, new seat and seamed a lot of air conditioner parts and a blower motor,,, no major engine stuff that i read off,, kinda scary huh! Came from Giltners. I have to say the truck could pass for 300,000 miles truck easy or less.

I can get a 200,000 extended warrenty for 3 grand that covers all lubricated parts , of the engine tran and diffs...

I've got 2 '97 models with well over a million on them. They are good, solid trucks. I do not think they break down or run hotter than any other truck out there. They're a damn nice ride. Just no damn headroom or foot room. But that's KW for you.

I have a 98 T600. Other than dropping a lifter, it has been a good truck. The engine has over 100M on a rebuild. Had the lifters been replaced at the same time I would have saved $7M. Over all it is a good truck. This is the only major problem with it. The lifters is a weak area in the 3406E engines.

Are you sure you are not seeing the KW T800?

What do they mean by too light? If they mean too light duty....well, we have abused a '95 that we bought in '96 and I have no complaints in that regard. The fairings however ARE light duty.

If they mean it's a light truck, well it kinda is.
