Exactly, and, with my truckers calculator in French mode that comes out to only like 37 actual miles after the conversion from Euro metric to U.S. Dewey decimal something. I really have no idea what I'm talking about.

I've found that sometimes I could haul a load for $1.50 and deadhead 50 miles or I could deadhead 200 miles and get $2.00 on a 1200 mile run.
I just deadheaded 200 miles to my next pickup point but this load is going to take me within 50 miles of my home.
With fuel at $3.10 per gallon and 9mpg dead heading,

So anyways. I head out early this morning and drive to the pickup point out in the middle of nowhere in Salem, MO. Nice country. I pull into the mill around 4am and no cell phone or internet connection. Climb into bed and next thing I know it's 3 hours later!!!
They workers get there an hour later and I pull my truck around into the loading area. It's 5 degrees out and the wind is blowing so it's well below zero with the wind chill. Glad I have good winter clothes and my LL Bean mad bomber hat. You guys have to get one of these!!!! I get loaded up and now dreading the tarping part. This is the coldest I've ever had to tarp in and was expecting the worst. It wasn't bad at all and the load was nice and square so it went real smooth. The rubber straps were a little tough to pull but I was done in less than an hour. Pop some Ibuprofen and I'm on my way. I only drove about 75 miles and then I saw the sign. Voss truck stop, HUGE BUFFET!!! Well, that was it, 3 plates of great food and I'm in heaven. I figure I'll do 500 miles tomorrow, 500 on Sunday then the 250 on Monday and should be there before they open. The a short ride home and a little time off.
