It seems to be happening in other states as well, just searching for info on retrofit programs for CA some other states popped up. Alot of people are in panic mode and others dont seem to care or have the attitude that no way they are giving up their trucks. I did speak to a person at CARB and they said that they are open to input from people in the industry because they dont know how it will impact us making a living. He also said that they are under funded and under staffed so dont expect the hammer to drop right away. So I am just going to keep working and fly under the radar unless I get caught in a smoke test. I imagine by 2010 my 79 will be worth nothing in CA.

The problem is, our trucks contribute massively to smog.
Catalytic convertors in gasoline engines take care of 99% of the smog forming NOx. They do not have a PM problem. Those same convertors do very little in comparison on our trucks. I think I read a study somewhere that attributed 80% of smog forming substances(NOx and PM) to heavy trucks.
