Your own truck and usually you can rent a trailer somewhere. Then you need some GOOD connections. Dont think you are just going to show up on some log job thinking they will load you. If you are in uncharted unfamilure territory you will not be taken kindly to.. you are seen as a threat. You are taking their loads away from the regulars and that can get messy.
If you have connections and the truck trailer and ins and all then go for it. tootie

Unless you lease to a carrier, you will need Texas Motor Carrier Authority. Authority costs $200 plus $10/truck. The truck fee is an annual cost, but the authority fee is a one time cost. You will need minimum amounts of liability coverage. I believe it is either $500,000 or $750,000 in Texas. In addition you will need either an accident policy or workers compensation insurance and must join a drug testing consortium. Requirements are similar to having interstate authority, except Texas doesn't require cargo insurance, as I recall. However, anyone for whom you haul may require cargo insurance. You can check all of their requirements and register by going to their website www.txdot.gov.

Logging does not require cargo ins here in NC (how can you damage logs in a roll over??)BUT warehouser (sp?) requires you to carry one million dollars liability ins. So if ya haul for warehouser you have to show that you have that coverage. Here in NC your heavy highway use tax is 440.00 if you are hauling logs ONLY
