Flying J no longer taking VISA
#31
Mountain Flyer, some of the larger carriers offer a fuel card which has a discount for fuel purchased at certain sites. Landstar and I am sure some others offer cash discounts and wholesale or cost plus pricing, mostly at TA. Most use a Comdata card for their purchases. I can get a cash discount at many stops using my Fleet One card (Truckersadvantage). If you use the cash back cards, such as American Express, Visa, etc., you will pay a higher price at most chains, but not at the independents. But with the cash back discount, you could more than make up for the credit price. Unfortunately, the Flying J seems to have the best price in most places, if you pay cash. Some of the large brokers have a fuel program you can participate. For instance, if you are set up with Landstar they have the Savings Plus. They issue you a Comdata card, just as they do their BCO's and you can purchase fuel, tires, etc., at the same price as their owner operators pay. C. H. Robinson owns T-Check. They also have a fuel program through their card company. The down side to Landstar is that you cannot load it. Landstar must load it, so unless you haul quite a bit of their freight and leave money on the card, it won't help in getting discounts. I believe Schneider Brokerage is another that offers their own card program. I am sure all of them make money when you use the card, but it might be a way for you to save some money or get discounts if you do business with them.
