I took a pic of this lizard in Friona TX last week and was just wondering if anyone knows what kind it is.....

i cant tell from the pics but is it in water? or near the edge of water??

from the looks of it looks like just a spotted salamander. just from the pictures it really doesnt fit the characteristics of a lizard... more of a salamander with the plump body and stubby limbs

I lived in NM for awhile and it's got the size of a Gila and their colors will change-Surprised you were able to get so close to it though.

He did have short legs and this was taken after dark and was not near water. He was about 8 inches long and he curled up and hissed at me when I started messing around with him. But he was not agressive in any way.

I agree.....and the tail makes me think this little bugger likes the water.

It's not a male....it's a female.

That's my ex...her name is Christine. I didn't know she was in Tx.?
