What type of antenna are you using for your sirius/xm radio? Are the ones specifically designed for trucks better than the one that comes with it?

All I've ever used was the magnetic antenna about the size of an egg. Mine just sits up in one of the small storage compartments above the windshield, inside the cab. Almost never lose the signal except under the fuel island awning.

we have xm & sirius both all we use is the little mouse looking one suction cupped to the inside of the skylight on our volvo

This is the one I use for XM and it has been leaps and bounds better than the stock one. Aside from tunnels, I never loose signal.

A couple of pointers on it..

1. Mount it as close as possible to your AM/FM antenna if you are rf broadcasting your satellite signal to your AM/FM radio.

2. Mount the antenna on the drivers side. It is less likely to be caught up in trees on narrow roads and be broken. That was a $60 lesson for me, and you get it for free. :lol:

I use the sirius antenna that came with it and its magnetically stuck out on the pass. side on the visor, allthough I did have to buy a device to hardwire the signal from the sirius reciever to the am/fm radio in the cab to prevent local radio stations from bleeding thru when youve selected a frequency to run the sat. radio from.

Which radio did you buy?

When satellite radio first came out the antennas were very unreliable. I sent dozens back for warranty. The small mouse antennas they have now work well. There is no need to mount them outside your truck. Most of my customers mount them in the headliner or throw them on the dash and they work fine.

I have the Sirius Visor radio. I use the antenna that came with it. I just place the antenna on the dash, usually, on the left corner. Works fine.

Where did you find an FM modulator? I've been hunting the 'net and it seems all the FM modulators are discontinued. Where do you get one?

That is one, you don't have to use the power adapter part but it does have an earphone type plug to do the fm modulator function.

I know I have recommended this site twice in this thread and numerous times in other threads but I have no connection with them whatsoever. I am just a satisfied customer after ordering things from them on many occasions.
