Makes me glad I have ABS on my motorcycle.....losing friction is, at least, minimized and braking will occur right into impact slowing the speed at contact.
I don't know if I would want to lay the bike down or not as you will slide right into "whatever" at pretty much the same speed as you were when you put the bike down. I think I'd rather continue braking that last 20-30 feet.
Steve...professional racing is a whole different can-o-worms. There you have a wide open track and grass in which to slide into. A lot different than a car pulling out in front of you. Maybe I'll be able to jump off the pedal posts and do a flip over the car, a double roll and pop to my feet to everyone's amazement.
Of course I'd rather swerve and avoid the whole thing
I suppose taking a turn too fast and heading for the far shoulder would be approached differently than a car pulling out and maybe laying it down and getting away from 600 lbs of tumbling steel would be a good idea.
