They couldn't pull it off because the brakes were on. The vehicle had air brakes and the engine needed to be running to get the spring brakes to release. Couldn't get at the brake chambers to uncage the springs because the vehicle sat too low. They eventually got it started by using ether. Took 4.5 hours to get unloaded. The broker gave us 2.5 hours detention at $30/hr.

That's not very much but it was more than I was expecting. First time collecting detention. Maybe I should get a stamp that lists my detention and truck not used rates and stamp the rate sheets before I fax them back.

Lower trailer onto floor, unhitch, take unit around to the side. Jack up vehicle that you want to unload on one side only and support with timber. Attach 30ft of wire rope to front of unit and secure to lower side of jacked up vehicle,as high up as you can.. Engage diff locks, reverse and pull the sod off!

Be happy with any detention pay. Since its not built into the load confirmation that you signed, you legally cannot charge anything. If you had it in writing then you have a foot to stand on. Your transaction is between the broker and yourself. Since you have no legal grounds with the reciever.
