FYI, a long many-paged post creates ZERO traffic for CAD itself, just the messageboard. It's little more than a dozen or so people carrying on a spirited discussion while a number of others watch. No big thing, either way.
What is a big thing is when I field many PM's, some good, most bad, and aimed at just about every player (some more than others, including the O.P.) in the thread because the thread has degenerated into name-calling. I don't like to lock threads down, particularly ones where it is a day-by-day breakdown of life on the road. Such threads are good threads and usually full of excellent info, both by the poster and by other participants. But since this is a messageboard, there will be those that disagree with the O.P. and will post as such. Those people have the same right to post their opinions as others, which is what I am trying (apparently unsuccessfully) to get across to a few people.

I've been tooling along for a while now after my 2 hour nap. Nice and sunny through New Mexico and now in Arizona. Pass the full weigh station packed with trucks. Why they don't get a PrePass is beyond me. It cost me $7.00. This is the first time I've done the 75mph speed limit and it felt good.
I'm driving along and there's like a small ravine to my right and there's this Buffalo just standing there looking down at the ground and not moving. I could see the tracks where he came down the big hill and was now at the bottom. Poor thing probably doesn't know what to do. Like horses, deer, goats and other animals like them they are very communal and need an alpha male to lead. I passed a heard of antelope and that was pretty cool although they weren't playing with the deer as the song suggests. Maybe that Buffalo should hook up. I also witnessed something strange with flocks of some kind of small bird. I could see them cruising around on the side of the highway and when I got close enough they all flew right in front of my truck horizontally. The cone of air in front of my truck caused them to be whisked away in a second. This happened over and over again. It was almost like because of the nice weather all the parents went shopping and all the teenage birds got together and did what they weren't suppose to like a game. The truck is running great and before I mentioned it didn't use any oil but now it does since I'm hauling loads under much more stress than bob tailing around for fun. I'm using about 2 quarts a week, not sure it that's good or bad. The checks have been rolling in on a regular basis and my extra cash has been building up. I'm hoping I don't get a load for a day or two so I can wash and clean my truck, maybe a PM. I was cruising pretty good on the road then all of a sudden something told me to get off and have a coffee. The truck stop I stopped at is the same one that I stopped at before that fed me Christmas dinner and gave me presents from the Truckers Chapel. ??????? I decided this is a sign that I should shut down early and stay here. Maybe someone trying to save me from something up the road, don't know. I'm only 3 hours away from the customer site and I'll be there before they open in the morning. I may have to do something drastic in the next few weeks to get home. I'm financial guardian for a friends daughter and have to report to court soon for my yearly accounting. I just found out the registered letter came from the court and I'm sure it's about my date but they person who gets my mail could not get it from the post office. I still feel like driving some more but it's so nice here. Wide open, desert all around and a huge parking lot. It's a Conoco in case someone knows it. It has a truck wash but it's been out of business for a while.

Steve, don't know where in Az you are going , but the Sisters truck wash in Casa Grande does a real nice job, plus the aluminum polishers are usually there and can shine up the tanks and wheels.

SteveBooth,
Since the PM deal is bothering someone and may even close this thread down, why not post a yahoo or hotmail address dedicated to this thread, as a signature or something? Perhaps you can avoid getting the thread shut down by having people message you that way. Also maybe a little note that states that you may not be able to get to them all right away.

As far as doing well... lets see... everything he owns is paid for, he obviously has a rather large nest egg to fall back on, he got insured for less than half the amount he should have (and lets not even mention the fact he has no mileage limit... absolutely unheard of for someone with zero experience). Yea... it would be damn near impossible for him to fail! Look Steve I think its great you were able to do so... we all wish we could... but dont come on here bragging on how you "defeated all odds" and made it. |
