Hey steve....glad you are back!!

Your right about learning....everyone has to start somwhere. There are alot of new guys (comany drivers included) who dont know beans about driving in the snow, ice or rain. The fact that they want to drive trucks means they will encounter these conditions sooner or later.

Seems as though you are using your head and common sense about things. I reaaly hope you hang around and keep posting but like the others have said just ingnore the bad posts... 8)

I confirm that you never called yourself a "hobby trucker"!

Actually, i might be wrong, but i believe that was me, who used that expression, for the first time ops:

I'm glad you survive so far, and learning, and could make a fine trucker some day....if, like somebody mentioned on this forum, when the "novelty" wears out, you still be around!

Than, we could talk about "hobby"...! 8)

[quote="Arizona"]What is the difference between being shoved behind the wheel during training while the trainer goes to sleep and takes all your mileage pay while you rake in $250 per week for 8 weeks.

Yeah...look at the training Goin Fer It got at May Trucking. Two crashes early on.

This is the next "bedbugger revenue contest" gone wrong

Pretty soon, you too SteveBooth can be called a "old geezer" (opposite of "kid) and be labeled a sexist pig who thinks women should be kept underground lol

Keep it going, don't buy into negativity. I've been the target of bored/undeducated/stupid/trash/politically-correct posters before, and my crap-winds kick up when I buy into it and bark back

I've been threatened via PM, called at home by hillbilly trucker wives, and everything else under the sun from this board 8) 8)

While I tip my hat for someone that took the bull by the horns and "got-r-done", you still gotta maintain calm composure. And don't you take ANY crap off the company drivers, even if they've been driving 15 years

Now up your rates a smudge. Don't stop posting because of idiots or opinions from the other side of the spectrum.

If anything, we can learn from your mistakes 8)

"This post is teetering on the edge of being locked down, because quite frankly, I'm tired of all the "fan" mail concerning it."

That statement mystifies me !

The threads by Steve; "My new truck questions", 20 Aug '06, has generated over 20,000 views and 332 responses in 23 pages.

This thread; "From desk to own authority", has generated almost 16,500 views and almost 400 responses in 25 pages. These two threads are the most prolific that I have seen on this site. Steve's "Fans" have certainly created some traffic for CAD. Isn't this good ?

Perhaps you should rethink your opinion as to who are the real "Fans" here. Perhaps it's not the "Self Anointed Trucking Guru's" who take every opportunity to bait and taunt the newbie driver or O/O that will not grovel at their feet. Don't tell me it's about safety, it's clearly a case of bruised super ego's. You know who they are.

Many people can learn to be competent, in new tasks, fairly quickly. Others DO require the 8 to 10 years training and are resentful of the quick learners.

Have a good day.

I'm glad it "Mystifies" you
Take it up with Flyer if you want an explanation. I'm sure he'll make it clearer for you.

Yoopr,

From a business standpoint, I'm sure the advertisers who sponsor this site would rather have many threads, like Steve's, which provides exposure of their ads to a large number of viewers rather than the typical CAD thread with only 5 to 10 views.

I just think it's poor business thinking, for CAD, to do something that would result in a greatly reduced number of viewer participation.

I don't have any financial interest in this web site, so it's only mental exercise for me.
