I get paid by the hour too and have no reason at all to speed as it actually costs me money to get done early.
I set my cruise and sit back and enjoy, the ones that get me are the guys that go flying by me and five minutes later I have to pass them because they're now going five under the limit only to get passed again by them five minutes later. Steady speed gives better fuel economy too. |

I hate that! It is almost always 4 wheelers though, have had maybe 1 or two trucks do it to me in the year I have been driving. Have had a few trucks go flying by me, but will pull in a rest area a few miles down the road, then ten min later, they will go flying by me again, just to do it again like 30 min later. I keep wondering if they keep stopping because they drank too much coffee and have to go, or it is for a little go-go juice. |

With the big trucks, it tends to be the ones who know you're cruising faster than they are, but they'll take you on a hill and then get back in front of you, forcing you to ride the brakes on the way down. It's one thing to try and keep your momentum on a long climb, but the slower trucks that pass on every little hill and in every construction zone, knowing that you'll be passing them again two minutes later, are obnoxious.[/quote] I agree. That is why I am really against they DOT stepping in and putting 68 mph limiters on trucks, even though my truck only does like 67 right now. There are a lot of people who drive slower trucks who don't think that it will affect them, but think about when you are at 41,000 lbs and another truck is at 39,000 and tries to pass you going up a hill, (and probably another truck that is empty trying to pass him) knowing that going down the next hill you are going to have to ride your brakes the whole time to keep from running all over them. And think about how much road rage there would be and how people will get on the cb and cuss the other drivers every time there is a hill. :nervous: |
my truck is set at 76, I run the speed limit which is 75 on the big roads in Az. When I'm on a secondary road I run the limit. When I get onto I-40 in Kingman, my truck is NOT going to just jump on that hill and run, but I keep it going building speed. When the "big" trucks jump out to pass me, I let em, but when I get to the top, if they haven't passd me, I get up to the limit of 75 and let them drop behind me. I find it foolish for me to back out of it when they're truck will only be going 65. As far as speeding/passing in construction zones....I love watching people get tickets after ignoring signs.

I just hate when people do the construction speed limit when it is not an active work zone. Around here you only have to do the construction speed limit when workers are present.
