When i drove a daycab pullin a tank i used to fly around cuz i had 3 loads a day to do. Took around 9-10hrs a day. One day i hauled ass all day and timed my self the next day i did right around the speed limit all i saved was around 15-20min. So i slowed down drivin like a nut was not worth the time plus i got paid by the hr so it didnt matter.

I discovered all of that a while back....and nowadays, I kinda just mosey along....and whats really interesting is that I have BBR's and Cheekin' Hawlers blowing past me all day long....and I have had them end up passing me 5 or six times in the same day....and I have pulled in to a truck stop or rest area at the end of the day....and they pull in behind me.... :? Go figure, huh?? Actually, here's one of the reasons why they ended up behind me: The faster you go, the higher the rate of vibration in the truck, and also it would appear that the frequency of the vibration is elevated, and it would seem that all that vibrating has a detrimental effect on the bladder's ability to retain fluid.....thereby causing more pit stops. Rather than chance a speeding ticket...its easier just to "mosey along", and yet actually get there at the same time...or ahead of the mob. In an 11 hour day, I generally only make 2 stops before the end o the day, and I'm not worn out at the end of the day, hint, hint... 8) |
I drive for a company that runs me local, in a day cab. But, they also run me OTR at times. I drive the speed limit no matter which one I'm running. Day cabs and OTR trucks pass me all the time like I'm sitting still. So, I don't think you can really stereo-type drivers by the kind of truck their driving.

I hate when slow vehicles are in the fast lane or the middle lane and wont move over. I also have disproved the idea that going driving faster doesn't get you there much quicker than doing the speed limit.
Where I drive a matter of minutes means breezing through a normally congested area and sitting in traffic for 20+ minutes at a clip. I have two loads to do a day and I normally use 12-14 hours to do them. If I did the speed limit I would be over hours most of the time. I'm also the guy finding detours around traffic which has saved me more time than anything. And I also resent the statement that people that speed are idiots anyway. I speed and I'll tell you that I am far from an idiot. But I have a job to do and I will not be late for my appointment. And leaving earlier is not an option, I have set times I can deliver for both of my loads and if I chew up hours by leaving earlier and sitting then I am screwed for my second load. |

LOL yeah ok guy, why don't you worry about blocking the flow of traffic by staying in the middle lane "obeying the law".
Hey did you see that.... I think your high horse is running away, better go catch it. |
