I just got a job offer, with an owner operator doing long haul. I just recently received my CDL. He offers me 15 cents a mile,
because of lack of experience. Is this a fair offer? Thanks for you input.

No, that is WAY too much for a beginner, you should do it for 10 cents a mile

It seems like this is the only way to get my foot thought the door. I respond to job posting, fax resume, and file online application. Everyone wants min. 2 years experience. After I received my CDL, I knew it was just the beginning. So I bought a few books "Bumper to Bumper"(The complete guide to Tractor-trailer Operations),"The Tractor Trailer Book" (Practical Advice for Driving Tractor Trailers) and a few DVD. I just want an opportunity.

Crete Carrier will hire you as a trainee, you would have to go with a trainer for a while, but you would make more, and have benefits

There are most definitely companies out there who will take you on for more than that per mile. New drivers with no experience are making double or more than the $0.15 a mile you were offered. The only question is, how did you get your CDL, did you go thru a school or did you borrow someone's truck and do the test on your own?
