Default Mesquite, NV

The bossman is sending me down to Mesquite, NV area later this week to pick up a piece of equipment and I was hoping someone on the board knows of a motel in the area with truck parking. I've never been to the area and any info is appreciated.

Here is my google results page link:

truck parking motel Mesquite nv - Google Search

You might want to check out the official visitors homepage for the town, and I'm sure you could call them and they could tell you.

The next two links are (I believe) for the same place (though the name is wrong in one of them,) and you can call THEM and ask them. One of the google "intro's" mentions a MOTEL.... but, I didn't see it on the specific pages I clicked on..... though it DID say HOTEL very close.

http://www.truckstopreport.com/tsr/Text/6193.html

One of them (there's another on the google page,) you have to scroll down alphabetically until you find Mesquite.

Do you have "The Next Exit" book? It is GREAT for this kind of situation! Mesquite is EXIT 112 and 122 (south and north side respectively.) Mine is in my truck.... so, I'll check for you tonight when I go in..... and post anymore info tomorrow night about this time (IF I make it home.)

Hope this helps. Try to get a layover if you can..... you are within a tour bus [or Bobtail] range of the north end of Lake Meade! [Take swimsuit just in case.]

I hope you like the area. Never been there myself.... but it's just north of Vegas, and I've been there and many other places in Nevada. A beautiful state!

Not sure the name of it, but there is one on the west side of the road, about the second from the last exit in town, that does have truck parking. But, I don't know if it's patrons of the motel or patrons of the casino. I believe it's a truck stop owned by the casino. Otherwise, a bit south of there is a Native American truck stop with signs for fireworks. Actually, not far from Vegas. But they do have lots of room for truck parking. I generally liked to stay there. Of course, I stayed in the truck, not in a motel.

That's right.... I DID read about a Casino in town. I'm sure it's listed on that visitor's page link. Anyway.... MOST of them have parking, and in THAT area, the room might not be too costly. As Andy Griffith said: "..... CALL the Man!"

Thanks for the help guys. With as tempting as it is going to be I've gotta stay out of Vegas. Money is tight enough, and if I wander down to the strip or anywhere near it I could do some damage to my wallet...:smokin:

I'd almost prefer to have a sleeper on the truck for these trips, just so I didn't have to pony up the money for a room. I do get it back on the next check, but it's a pain in the :moon:

I will call around tomorrow to try to get an idea on a location and the cost. I wouldn't be as nervous about the cost of the room if it wasn't Friday night, but I guess I'll find out in the morning. As far as that book goes, I know I used to have one that I bought in '06 or '07 but I may just go and see if I can find an updated version tomorrow, because I'm not even sure where it is at.

If you're going south/west into Mesquite, there's a big truck parking lot next to Mcdonalds/Conoco and I think there's a hotel near there too. It's the first Nevada exit after you're coming out of the canyon. Should be exit no. 122 and the Virgin River casino/hotel is across the street. All on the north side of I-15.

It has been a lot of years since I have been there, BUT....The Best Western in Mesquite used to have truck parking. A nice big graveled lot.

Thanks for all the info everyone. I got a few more details about the move that make a big difference. Yesterday I was told that I was picking up a scraper from a contractor that's just inside the AZ border. I was assuming that I was going to be taking a tractor with an 8 wheel RGN lowboy. I was wrong. Come to find out I am taking the 10 wheel flatbed  Now I'm curious to see just how small this piece of equipment actually is.

Not too worried about finding a place to park now. At least it's a Mack with decent motor and can easily keep the speed limit loaded, so I can get back in good time.

Just inside the AZ boarder sounds more like WHISKEY BILL'S area. You can't even see the smog from Vegas from there. But, if you're looking to stay away from the casinos, I'm afraid you're out of luck in that department. First one out of CA is Whiskey Bill's and (I think) Buffalo something. Don't know the name of the third one there. Next exit has Nevada Landing and Gold Strike. (Two more hotels with casinos.) But, I believe every one of them has truck parking.
