Jeepers b00m.....I'm more afraid of the hood than the hillbillies!
I went thru a small town in MS. where the people were shouting at me and waving their fist.......I thought they were gonna jump on my truck and beat me like tha poor driving after Rodney King got his attitude adjustment.
And I don't forget the mishap in Kansas City at 2 am.....got in a jamb and there was nothing but crack *****s and drug dealers out......next morning on the local news there was a report of a killing only blocks from where I was....:eek2:
I reckon everyone has their close calls....some closer than others.

Shooter identified and arrested
The shooter has been found. It was a 17 year old boy who has been in quite a bit of trouble. Not many details have been released, but he lived in the subdivision where the shots were fired. He has also been charged with theft of weapons at a gun store and some other thefts.

A 17 year old... That's sad. It's so sad how these kids are involved in gangs and stuff.

This kid was responsible for stealing over $200,000 in cars from a local Dodge dealer. I believe the report mentioned that there were others involved in these thefts. This kid is not from a bad neighborhood. He is not someone that you would expect to be involved in this sort of thing. They showed his picture and he looked clean cut. The other things are serious, but the shooting is the most critical. My guess is that he probably used one of the guns he stole from the gun store to shoot at that driver. They have a long list of charges. He is lucky that he didn't kill that driver.

Gman, what does a killer look like? What does his neighborhood have to do with anything? I didn't expect a comment like that from you...

I was responding to the comment that Jackrabbit379 made about gangs. Most kids that I have seen who belong to gangs have a hardened look. This kid looked more innocent. I don't know what is wrong with that sort of comment. Most kids who live in decent neighborhoods don't seem to belong to gangs, at least in my part of the country. Most of the ones who seem to be attracted to gangs, at least that I am aware, seem to come from disadvantaged neighborhoods. Something was wrong in his home. Otherwise, he would not have gotten into this much trouble. In his situation, I am not sure that he actually belonged to a gang. He had accomplices in at least some of his misdeeds. I don't think that qualifies him necessarily as a gang member. And, as far as I know he hasn't killed anyone.

Part of the problem is that the consequences aren't scary enough to scare people away from doing crime... Some people aren't afraid to go to jail for a couple of years and come out and do probation. We need much stiffer penalties for law breakers.
