Everything tends to fall apart right on schedule  Its just a matter of standing your ground and playing the game on the side of the Law. In 4 years of driving OTR I have found it does pay to stay ahead of the dispatch system and always remember your  logbook is ultimately doing the talking.

Footnote:
If they mandate the 'Black box' soon...( which I hope they will) The drivers should get their teeth back. ...The BOX...will decide what takes priority... You getting to a safe place to shut down...or you having enough time to make it to the pickup/drop and still have enough time to make it to a safe rest place. Shippers/Receivers....payback is coming. All those times a driver made it to your doorstep in the nick of time to deliver your product and you denied them a safe haven and threw them off your lot even though they were outside their legal limits. That will stop... Respect is just right around the corner for the drivers as I see it. After all...we are the ones that make it happen. Amen :lol2:

Sometimes you have to be careful for what you wish for, cause it will bite hard later on. And I'm not wishful for something like this.

I'm sorry and i have to disagree with you.Us drivers will get the end of the stick, like always on this one too.Big lobby from all companies(shippers, receivers etc) will take this and spin it their way,so drivers will loose again.Look, at how organized are the drivers in this industry. They don't speak in one voice, therefore we are not seen as a force in this industry, since the the almighty green speaks.

I run into this scenario quite often:
For example: You are on the way to make a delivery/pickup, you are about 2 hours away. You know by past experience that you can make the shipper/receiver but will most likely run out of hours and be left looking for parking after the 14 clock has run out. (Ive gone as far as 1.5 over looking for parking on some occasions) The 'box' would leave no other option but to find your parking while you still had hours... the shipper/receiver would have no choice but to go along with the rules that the drivers must follow. Thats the way i invision the device playing out....

Thats the way i invision the device playing out.... The "box" is not going to act as OUR UNION REP - it's going to be the EBI (Electronic Bureau of Investigation), messing with DRIVERS AND CARRIERS ALIKE - in the (supposed) name of SAFETY (read: REVENUE). The ONLY POTENTIAL BENEFIT - is that, if made MANDATORY FOR EVERYONE (and paid for/funded BY THE TRANSPORTATION BILL) is that EVERYONE WILL BE EQUALLY SCREWED - leveling the playing field a little more...
